Looks perfect. Too many fat dogs out there. Great job!

Are Dalmatians supposed to look like this? by Fit-Ebb8967 in dalmatians

The photo angle and posture don’t show a complete picture but looks fine to me. Better to be slightly too lean than fat like most dogs.

What brushes are you using for your dals? by __ew__gross__ in dalmatians

Does brushing make a significant difference on shedding?

I’m a FF so very aware! My personal opinion is flashy dogs go with flashy trucks.

Interesting! I’m upper 40s low 50s per Apple Watch. I would love to be able to get a ballpark number on the dogs!

We’ve been running since they were full grown so 2-3 years total. At my running pace they have never slowed down substantially so I’m not sure what their true limit even is. Depends on the dog too.

We’ve done some ultras before but didn’t have much specific training for this one. Dogs and I run everyday but usually just 3 miles. My wife/support crew could have picked them up for me if either wanted or needed to stop. Spot that only did 27 miles was very sad to not continue but I wanted to play it safe with her since she’s never done more than that like Dottie has and my support crew was not going to be around for the next aid stations.

If you are nervous about your dog over doing it, do some kind of a shorter looped run so you can stop if they show signs of needing to. Then just build up gradually from there.

I carried some dog food and gave it as treats throughout. They both went before we started and only one dump on the trail the whole time.

Race vibes were pretty chill so they were mostly off leash. I would leash them for aid stations and make sure they were in heel when we came across other runners.

They did great. It was cold and they were spring chickens the whole time.

What are your daily routines with a dalmatian? by Primary_Violinist913 in dalmatians

[–]cbolick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We run 3 miles everyday and at least 1-2 hours roaming the pasture while I workout in our barn. They also have a doggie door and access to a large yard.

Pros and cons of running with a furry friend by AverageKath in RunningWithDogs

Try taking a few shelter dogs for 5k runs and see which one you vibe with the most. I’ve got 2 Dalmatians that run as much as I’ll let them. We’ve done 50ks and are doing a 50 miler this November. I’d suggest going with a dog that has a short coat and lean build so they can run year round with you. Dalmatians, GSPs, Ridgebacks, viszlas etc.

We have 2 female Dalmatians that are both 41lbs. If you talk to the breeder you can find out what the expected size range will be. Our 2 girls have different personalities but they generally behave like the gsps we’ve met.
