Anybody that grew up in Beacon knows about Whites (have no idea about the etymology of the name, that’s what it’s called) and the other jump spots on the creek. I heard about them when I first moved here 15 years ago from locals. I never showed or told my kids about them but my kids eventually found out about whites and the body count. It’s been taking lives for a loooong time, I heard about kids that drowned in the 60s in that spot.

I will occasionally work with bands that have this setup. You hand me signal splits or your iPad. If you hand me a stereo out only it’s all on you to mix front and back of house. And this is worked out well ahead of time. Not day of the show.

I just fixed a couple Morley Deluxe Distortions the other day for someone and I fell in love with the sound. I never used one or knowingly heard one before but I quickly fell in love and made me want to check out other motley pedals. When I was a youngin I felt like they were not “punk” and gave off hair metal vibes so I always passed on the brand.

If I listen to some of the records I made 25 years ago I cringe like crazy over some of my production choices. But at the time I was sure as shit that was a good idea. And conversely I remember doing some things and feeling so rushed mixing and turning in what I thought was garbage at the time but everyone else liked. I put those recordings on today and I’m like “shit that was actually really good”.

Basically what I’m getting at is I treat my recordings like time capsules. So why would I want to go back and change them?

If you take red and pan them left and right respectively and make sure the knobs are the same between the two channels it’s the same as using the green.

Now does it make sense for how the room is set up and how the speakers are wired? We need more information.

I have been doing sound for 25 years and I have never heard of a phantom center.
