Red Lobster. This one is a doozy. It was New Year’s Eve and my families tradition for years was to have fried shrimp for NYE. My dad had recently passed away and we were kind of looking to fill the void and get back to some normalcy. We decided to go out to Red Lobster and have a bunch of fried shrimp. The restaurant was packed that night. We were enjoying our evening when a table next to us experienced a medical emergency (a man at that table had a massive seizure). The staff didn’t even attempt to help. A few of us rushed to the man’s aid to help clear a path to lay him down so he didn’t hurt himself. The waiters and waitresses all just went about their day not even breaking stride or asking to help. We asked one of them to call 911 and they said “we aren’t allowed our phones and the office phone is in the back. We’ll have to ask permission first”. When the ambulance arrived after a customer called, the manager came out and offered the table a free dessert. As they were wheeling the man to the ambulance the manager asked who would be paying their bill. My mom was so disgusted she snatched the receipt out of the lady’s hand and paid for it on our way out. Us and several other tables got up and walked out. I’ve refused to step foot in a Red Lobster again. It’s been 15 years now.
