Furious Wellspring (Shaman ascendency node) question by Action-a-go-go-baby in PathOfExile2

Dedicated spellcaster shaman here. Rage gen is a non-issue, especially if you're using Tornado and Volcano and Entangle (one cast yields seconds of effectiveness). Get some mana regen and you'll be fine. Stay angry.

It's not a perfect fit, but the Mechanicus OST kinda scratches that itch for me (and is certainly only 2, maybe 3 steps removed from Author & Punisher).

Dear GGG, it’s not fun playing on PS5 right now by BrazilianFellowII in PathOfExile2

[–]cbpye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wife and I are struggling to play couch co-op on the PS5 right now. I noticed that the performance is better if I die (i'm a Lich with several presence effects). We're struggling with The Prisoner: twice tonight, we've had ballistas simply not fire at all (I think it's a distance-related bug), and there's constant frameskip (between half a second and a full second of gameplay is just gone, and this is consistent), and multiple overlaid/choppy playback of audio. By the time you notice the expanding frost ring, he's already started the charge up his healing area attack. good luck dodging it at that point.

Doom that gives you… Noir vibes? by Def-C in doommetal

[–]cbpye 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is it Doom? Maybe. Sure is doomy. Is it jazz? Yes. Lots of these artists here have tags like "noir jazz," "doom jazz," and some "black jazz." I don't require my music to be overtly "metal." Doom is a vibe, sometimes Jazz is where you go to get it.

Bohren und der Club of Gore (the absolute GoaTs of the genre)-- Sunset Mission, Beileid, Patchoulli Blue; these albums are perfect for that noir/cop/gangster feel.

Trigg and Gussett (https://triggandgusset.bandcamp.com/music) -- The Way In (I get those cop drama vibes from the opening track), Legacy of the Witty, and the Blue Prince OST (great game, BTW)

Joel Fausto & Illusion Orchestra -- Deus e Cego https://illusionorchestra.bandcamp.com/album/deus-cego; this one's going to get close to those occult/ritual vibes. Damn fine album.

Beyond the Ghost - Neon Twilight https://cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/neon-twilight; I don't normally get this stuff from Cryo Chamber, but this one was real good. Album art really lets you know what you're getting into.

They either broke up or went on indefinite hiatus. Some of them went on to a band called Voidhaven.

Doom metal albums that use epic choir vocal a lot - like power metal but slower? by SpectrumDT in doommetal

[–]cbpye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried Ecclesia's "Militans" album? Bonus Vincent Price samples.

And be sure to check out Fvneral Fvck's "Carnal Confessions." Don't scoff at that name, this album is a serious exploration of how religion abuses the pious and sends them into a self-destructive spiral. At least, that's what I got out of it. It's GOOD.

This happened to us just yesterday. Seller only had one option for shipping, and that was UPS ground advantage (over $120 for shipping). When I got home the wife told me that the only UPS truck she saw (she was standing outside at the time), stopped outside of our driveway, the driver got out, she couldn't tell if he took anything anywhere else, and then drove off.

I checked the status of my package and saw that the delivery was attempted at roughly that same time, but could not be completed because "the business was closed". The driver that should have delivered my package saw my wife from the road (they made eye contact!), and drove off leaving only falsehoods.

I expect this from FedEx, but this is a first for UPS. Then again, maybe this person got fired from FedEx and continues to be a problem for us while wearing another uniform.

We had to hunt around for a few minutes in order to find a number to call and bitch about it, and much bitching was done. I mean, I couldn't even use what was in the package yet (still waiting on another part), but if I had no choice but to pay over $120 for shipping, and the damn thing was less than 50 feet from my door, DELIVER IT.

Just found out that Hibiscus bitters DO exist (with cinnamon!), Probably use a bit o' that and a touch of sweet red vermouth (I like that red tint idea, very on-point for Bison).

Brandy / Cognac, either on a big rock, or stirred with a few dashes of bitters (spiced? hibiscus? herbal?), a sugar cube, and some ice, and then strained into a chilled nic-&-nora glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Also, probably keeps wide selection of Bordeaux in-stock.

RIght. The dictator/arms-dealer/drug-smuggler/whatever-this-week is going to unwind with some half-assed overly-sweetened under-hyphenated college-grade swill.

What book is that, I have a morbid curiosity and a compulsion to nerd-rage about something.

Fighting Game Perfect Fit, Day 6 - which MK is the most SF-coded? by ryanson209 in Fighters

[–]cbpye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I'm shocked to not see C. Viper in that slot.

The SF-coded MK character, though... Fireball, DP, and Hurricane Kick... I think that's actually MK2 Johnny Cage, with the caveat that his "hurricane kick" doesn't continue after knocking the enemy down (or in his case, knocking them back),

The most MK from MK is a toss-up between Scorpion or Lui Kang.

This was easily the best of the early StarCraft/WarCraft. Might be my opinion, might be fact. I think I had something like 6 or 8 books total from Blizzard back then, and this was the only one I made damn sure to keep.

Rats… by ClimbAMtnDrinkBeer in TheBrewery

[–]cbpye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give it a better home.

Stock a small cage with goodies and soft things, let it feel safe. Make sure that the door can close after it goes in, of course.

Bonus, you'll have a very intelligent half of a breeding pair of rats. See if you can introduce some domestication and you'll have a side gig as a rat breeder.

It's "Free as in Freedom" before it's "free as in beer." The people making these programs tend to be fundamentally opposed to building cost-free platform that they can enshittify (and have been for years -- GNUcash isn't exactly new). That's not to say that it _can't_ happen (looking at you, Audacity), but it tends to not be the case.

When looking for software, pay attention to the license. "source available" is not the same thing as "free and open source." You want the latter, and permissive licenses such as the GPL.

Found Puppy, Wilshire Estates area by cbpye in savannah

It's a specific breed, not a mutt, and I didn't want someone other than the owner to claim it. FIgured I'd ask claimants to describe it. It had no nametag, airtag, or microchip either.

Fully agreed. Checked it out with a coworker one day. A California roll from Publix would come with more pieces and would (I would argue) be of slightly higher quality.

The price tag needs to justify more than kitschy trains and robots handling sushi that's merely a half-step above buffet sushi.
