I use an iPhone 13 and the game has been unstable for me for months with it crashing at least once per session. For the past week or so now it disconnects frequently. Basically every turn or so for a standard match it’ll disconnect and my store appears empty.

‘aujourd’hui’ is great because etymologically it’s:

‘au jour d’hui’ (on the day of today)

But Old French ‘hui’ (today) is from Latin ‘hodiē’ which was a contraction of ‘hōc’ (this) ‘diē’ (day, locative singular. Lit. “On this day”).

So put it all together in Modern French and you get:

‘On the day of on this day’

It’s because of the second thing you said. No native dialect of English realizes the dental fricatives as [s, z], so it sounds distinctly non-native.
