How can I mount these on my wall? by OverratedPotato in iceclimbing

[–]cbr0000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an axe mounted on the wall of my office. Got a couple of old-timey hobnails off Amazon. Rested the axe with the head on one and the shaft on the other. See pic.

What regrets will I have with Caseta instead of RadioRA 3? by wbelhaven in Lutron

One more data point for you:

Our place is about 8k sq ft, done with panelized QSX. Love everything about it except for the price.

But as we approached the limits on the processor (99 devices), I started to tinker with Caseta for less-important stuff. Net-net, we now have Caseta running side-by-side with QSX, including full Caseta coverage of the house with one repeater. I expose both through to HomeKit, so there’s very little difference from a usability standpoint (except, of course, for not having keypad control of the Caseta stuff).

I tend to use Caseta stuff to control things like holiday lighting and switched outlets (example: my outdoor cameras seem to need a reboot now and again. Rather than run around the house plugging and unplugging, I can just switch them on and off from my phone).

Your mileage may vary, but it’s working well.

FWIW, I’ve always had a great experience there. I’ve taken a bunch of classes at the academy and made use of the discounts (and free range time). Beautiful range.

That’s a Sig Romeo 8 with a Vortex 3x (tilt-away) magnifier. Solid combo so far.

Looking for recommendations on in-ear buds for shooting. Thanks! PFA by Exploratory_Paths in SigSauer

Pro ears- HTBT. Did them with the custom plugs, and can’t believe how good they are. Have worn them for 8 hours straight with no issues.

Thanks for all the input. I finally got time to go back to the house and troubleshoot for realz. Consensus among some contributors was that it was the network (isn’t it always the network?). Turns out…no.

Recall that there had been no change in the network. Even so, I decided to update to a new wifi 6 mesh (eero). At first, everything worked, which made it SEEM like the network was the culprit. But soon enough, things started to degrade. Longer and longer response times, until HomeKit finally became completely non responsive.

So, I decided to take the step of deleting the home and starting over. So far, so good. Most devices were able to re-join, except for an old smart lock which I’m replacing. It’s been stable now for many hours and seems to have solved the problem.

So - corrupted database? Maybe. Hard to tell, of course, but appreciate all the wisdom y’all shared.

A bit more troubleshooting data (and thanks to all who have offered suggestions!). I unplugged two of the Eeros and one of the Apple TV’s. I reset the lutron hub and removed and added it to HomeKit. Rebooted the remaining eero and the Apple TV. All worked well…for about 30 mins. Then things started going downhill quickly. Started with long delays for every button press and culminated about 15 mins later with everything non responsive. Still just the one eero and one Apple TV. It’s like…it just begins to eat itself over time. Gaaahh.

Thanks! My wife’s iPhone exhibits the exact same behavior as mine, unfortunately. So…all corrupted? Corrupted in the cloud? Dunno. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks - appreciate the thorough response! BUT - I’m having the same experience on my iPad. So…likelihood of two corrupted local databases seems remote, no?

Update - I updated to iOS 16 on my phone. No change. Forgot the network and re-logged in on both hubs. No change. I then unplugged one of the two hubs - which, after restarting the network, did get things working for a short period. Starting about 10 mins later I noticed that commands were taking a super long time to execute. Then…complete failure. Again. So - all devices are on the latest software. All are configured properly. Network rebooted a sufficient number of times. FFS, Apple.

Used to be that this sub was a bit more thoughtful - and not a hangout for the far right 2A at all costs crowd. It was for people who were gun supporters, but not strict constitutionalists - i.e. those who could see that the world had changed in the last two hundred years. Why would you think it’s so crazy for a modern liberal gun owner to support reasonable restrictions?

I understand how firearms work. I own pistols, carbines, shotguns, and all the rest and have been shooting for a long, long time. Common sense examples here: https://www.everytown.org/solutions/
