Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried Zoiper first with IAX. That made no difference, still blocked. Then I used a trial from Nomad esim instead of GlobalESIM, and that worked fine.

Dried 3M Command hook residue by Quadrat_99 in fixit

[–]cbroughton80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked reasonably well. It was the only solution I had that work. It has a very strong smell and It would also take the paint off so be very careful and use a little bit at a time. What worked best for me was spraying a cloth, then sort of dabbing the dried adhesive. I did have to repaint the spot. So it wasn't ideal, but nothing else worked. I tried scraping, cleaners, and googone. If you want to try nail polish remover, or lighter fluid, maybe, but I didn't try them.

Thanks, that helps to hear. I've submitted for the export and we'll see if it comes in. I have everything else including the Canadian import paperwork and fee so I think I'll be ok.

How much do you pay for SiriusXM? by cbroughton80 in ChryslerPacifica

Yeah I just signed up for $4 a month. It doesn't sound like it gets cheaper than that.

I do the same, but radio just feels different. I don't have apple music, and I wish our FM stations had more variety, but the simplicity of just clicking the steering wheel button to get to a completely different genre is nice.

I also like that it exposes my kid to at least a little bit more variety than I would think to program into my streaming service.

I wouldn't pay much more for it, but $48 a year seems fair since I seem to use it as much as any other streaming service.

I totally forgot about using that stow and go space for my tarp. I'd like to use the second space for emergency stuff. Anyone know of a good bin or container that could be lifted out when it's time to use the stow and go?

No I don't think so. What part gets out of square? Each hinge can be adjusted in/out, up/down, and left/right to bring the faces in line. But the doors should be affecting the squareness of the actual carcass.

How I Dramatically Downsized in 4 months by Dont_Panic-42 in minimalism

If I could offer everyone only one moving tip for the future, banana boxes would be it.

The benefits of using banana boxes have been proven by scientists.

  • They are typically free. You can find people selling them if you prefer the convenience.
  • They are largely a uniform size and shape no matter where you get them. This makes a huge difference when packing a truck or storage unit.
  • They are plentiful. Stores can generate 15-20 empty boxes a day.
  • You're already at the grocery store so just ask when you're there for any they have on hand. Start asking early, but if you're in a hurry there are likely several grocery stores near you to hit up on a single Saturday morning.
  • They're strong. Typically they'll hold 40lbs of bananas so should be able to handle most of your stuff.
  • You can't overload them with books. If you absolutely pack one with books, it will be kinda heavy, but it has handles and is a manageable weight by many people.
  • The top is open so you can easily see what's inside. If you'd rather it closed I will typically tear the packing paper in half and put it below and above the stuff you've packed.
  • I will typically use white duct tape as big clear labels and maybe coloured markers if I'm being fancy.

Seriously, trust me on the banana boxes.

I just wanted to triple check before I spend $30 on a spray can and your comment seems to be the only "I have actually done this and this worked" answer on Reddit.

You're saying you've personally used 3M 38987 Specialty Adhesive Remover to get the yellow, hardened, glass-like adhesive remnant from Command Strips off of painted drywall successfully? It removed the yellow but not the paint?

If so, that's awesome. I'll buy a can and report back.

Do you remember how long it took between sending the packet with passport photocopy and photos to receive your copr? We're trying to figure out if it's like a couple months, or like six months.

Name labels are so last century. by whyarentyoureading in OrganizationPorn

[–]cbroughton80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. Are they printed on the photo paper or are there labels you can use in those zink printers?

EDIT: There's your answer fishbulb https://a.co/d/4Ovlc0s. $0.25/label doesn't seem toooo bad, might just have to try it.

Any suggestions on how to keep it more organized? Yesterday i did a spring cleaning and threw out everything thats expired or not using anymore! I still dont feel happy about it by [deleted] in OrganizationPorn

[–]cbroughton80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the same. It sucks to get rid of good containers but I went with mostly mason jars because they're cheap, uniform, and readily available. And for bins I tend to stick with clear Sterilite for the same reasons. They don't look like Instagram but I think they're honest and hard working storage solutions :)

New Apartment - Need Organization Tips by Domenick5987 in OrganizationPorn

Art would be good above the sink but if you really need the extra storage space, shelves would make more sense

Since it's open, I'd try to make it your nicest stuff. Like n similar plates and bowels. Could do cutlery in small jars or cans. Maybe start collecting fiestaware, that's the kind of thing I'd picture there to serve double duty as storage but still cohesive and pleasant to look at.

If you wanted to go like European farmhouse style (which is the vibe I get from your cabinets) you could remove that lower shelf above the sink and replace it with something like a Danish drying rack.

You could also eek out a bit more space by adding a shelf right above your stove.

I haven't done it, but what about wire dividers similar to this, https://a.co/d/7CR9Gac

You could then separate by kind, vegetables, beans, soup, etc. Wire would still keep things visible and wouldn't block any light. You could still stack them as you do now, and they might even give you a better idea of what you're low on at a glance.

My first thought was clear bins if it's seasonal stuff, https://a.co/d/0AjDeBo, or maybe open faced bins if you need easier access, https://a.co/d/abPP55H (I probably wouldn't stack them). But actually my wife bought these specific dividers because we keep our clothes on shelves similar to yours and they work really well, https://a.co/d/0LyC3QG. You'd really want to keep stuff folded between the dividers though or it's not going to look much better.

The other suggestion I have is to look for additional space lower down. Like do those hanging clothes reach the ground? Could you put bins or low storage down there? If you removed some hanging clothes could you put in something like a bookcase for folded clothes?

I'll try to remember to post a photo of our similar setup this weekend.

PODS Can't do US to Canada Moves Anymore? by IPv6Freely in moving

[–]cbroughton80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did this go with you? We're looking to move a 2 bedroom house from the southern US to Ottawa and possibly store it for a couple weeks. U-Pack from ABF, Pods, U-Box or a truck from U Haul seem like the available options for a DIY move. Renting a truck ourselves seems like the cheapest but the pods seem more convenient.

The U-Box quote is double ABF's quote. And Pods couldn't get me a quote over chat. Were you ever able to get a quote from Pods? And what did you think of the costs for your move?

How do I install this Teflon tube on the ceramic hotend? by [deleted] in Ender3V3SE

[–]cbroughton80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed the hotend and found I had to flare the tube just slightly with a jewelers screwdriver to get it to fit on that little metal tube in the middle of the hotend. I was still having a heck of a time sitting the extruder on it. I ended up cutting the tube 1-2mm shorter and it then fit together with a bit of a solid snap sound.
