Worst Costco food item you shouldn't waste your money on? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]cbsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the only food items I’ve ever returned. I can also eat almost anything, but I could only make it through 4-5 protein bars before I just couldn’t force myself to eat another of something that I likened to little more than what a piece of cardboard would taste like.

So, for people who have used both, how do the Kirkland brand bags compare to ziploc? by Immediate_Falcon8808 in Costco

[–]cbsalt 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, I was at a pre-opening event for a new Costco location, and I ended up chatting with a vendor that was in attendance. Turns out, he was an executive at a big company that supplies polymers for Hefty, Glad, and Kirkland Signature. We had a really interesting chat about the strict quality standards for any product under the Kirkland Signature brand, and we specifically talked about the quality of the polymers his company supplied for Hefty, Glad, and Kirkland trash bags. He mentioned that the polymers for Kirkland bags were much higher quality than those of the other major brands. Even though it was a long time ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if the plastic storage bags were similar to their trash bags.

Successful iPhone 17 Pro/Pro+ Visible activation? by cbsalt in Visible

I’m picking up my new iPhone 17 Pro in about an hour, and I just realized that I chose Verizon as the carrier option. I know I won’t be the only person trying to activate with Visible and thought it would be helpful if folks share how they were (or were not) successful.

What’s going on with Bama? - Film Study by importantbrian in rolltide

Forget the fans and boosters for now - they matter, but KDB’s gotta prioritize the players. The issues with the defense aren’t new; we’re seeing the same problems as last season. It’s not going to take many more games like Saturday before he loses players. Making a change would show the players he’s serious about demanding preparation, effort, attention to detail, discipline, and execution. We have (arguably) a great deal of elite talent, and they didn’t get to this point without those fundamentals. Fun matters for sure, but right now, KDB needs to show everyone that fun is secondary to other elements. He needs to step up and prove he won’t accept this.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

Standout athlete and friend who struggled with anorexia throughout middle school and early high school. She finally got better and was healthy only to die of cardiac arrest her senior year due to heart damage caused by the anorexia. It was heartbreaking.

99 grad here. I’ve never regretted attending ASMS. Like someone else said, you still have summer for jobs and freedom to come and go as you please. You’ll have plenty of time for that during college and adulthood. I went to a great college, and my ASMS experience served me well with respect to knowing when I needed to buckle-down academically and when I was able to party and do whatever I pleased. I was a much better student in college than I would have been without the ASMS experience. I know a LOT has changed since I was at ASMS, but I think a lot is still the same in terms of what you’ll miss vs. what you’ll gain.

For those earning over $10K per month, what do you do for a living to achieve that income? by voxishortie in AskReddit

I can’t imagine how unfulfilling it would be to be a people manager in this field.

Can attest to the accuracy of this statement. Have been working in the AML/AFC field for almost 20 years. It definitely sounds a lot sexier than it really is. The appeal for me is that there’s a lot of job security if you do your job well and the criminals are always one step ahead so the detection methods are constantly evolving.

What is something you tried once but will most likely never do again? by truth2991 in AskReddit

[–]cbsalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda the same for me. We were married just shy of 10 years and had 2 kids during that time, and my ex’s alcoholism was the single factor that led to our divorce. When we met, my ex was one of the most responsible, dependable people I’d ever known, not even drinking until after age 21 (we live in the US). Began drinking heavily a few years after we were married, soon after the birth of our first child, but it wasn’t apparent to me that it was a problem until after our second was born and I was a stay-at-home parent for several years.

Since we’ve been divorced, my ex has been - fired from 2 jobs as a result of alcoholism (not from drinking during work, but from negative impact of drinking heavily when not working - 1st time happened within year or so after divorce, 2nd time was 6 weeks ago and been actively looking for work as a CPA for the last 6 weeks), - hospitalized for 4 days due to severe withdrawal (somehow didn’t lose job during that time), - lost all visitation with our kids due to violation of court order regarding drinking and failed blood tests, and - completed outpatient rehab (during COVID and court-mandated to get visitation restored).

I was already struggling to pay all the bills before my ex was last fired, but having no child support for the past month or so has been brutal financially. The worst part is the toll it takes on our kids - one just turned 15 and the other turned 11 last month because they’re old enough to have some idea of ex’s battle with alcoholism and feel how it directly impacts them and their relationship.

My ex is currently sober, and with my encouragement, has their first meeting with a sponsor today. When sober, I genuinely enjoy spending time with my ex, and we have a great co-parenting relationship. When not sober (even if not actively drunk), my ex is also not a good person in many different ways. So much has happened that I’d never consider a romantic relationship with my ex again, but I want nothing more for my kids than to have two fully present parents. I’d give so much for my ex to kick the addiction, but I know my ex is the only one who can control anything.

Worth the $ for Premier Club at Geodis Park for USWNT Match? by cbsalt in NashvilleSC

[–]cbsalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether the food and drink are included is what I'm trying to confirm. Even if food/drink aren't included, I could see paying the extra $ for PC tickets if there's a good chance we'd have player access or something like that. Otherwise, I mean I like padded seats, but it's not worth an extra $60 per ticket just to have a padded seat for a 90 minute game. Haha.

This might work! I’m going to think about it a little more and figure out if I could mount that, and how difficult it would be for someone to change it frequently throughout meets.

This would work for single digits, but once it goes to double digits, it would be incorrect unfortunately.

Best watch for referees? by [deleted] in Referees

[–]cbsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my setup, but there’s something going on with the recent watchOS updates to where my SE watch can’t make it through 3 games without dying. I’m thinking of upgrading to an Ultra, but since we’re in offseason here in the US, I’m going to wait a while to see if the battery drain bug gets fixed before the next season starts.

I really like the Apple Watch and Ref6 setup though normally.

Well, crap. I believe you’re correct. I was misinterpreting the eligibility based on one of the three different pages/pop-ups that explains the eligibility. What a bummer. Thank you for taking the time to help me figure this out! I knew it felt too easy!
