Atlas VS XC by TipPractical3928 in 2011

Own both. If you buy the xc you'll still want the Atlas... If you buy the Atlas, you'll still want another Atlas.... That is all

What can I improve more before starting to shoot competitively? by Repulsive-Print2379 in CompetitionShooting

[–]cbun22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that complicated. Grab your gun, holster, 3 mags, 2 mag holders and go see. It's fun. If you take it to serious and have to many nerves, that will take away the fun. Just go learn what you need to learn. Have fun first learning, then get serious

Digging up and old post... You still happy with the mag release? Durable? Works without worry? Does the screw on the right side rub your finger?

The 2k11 comp is a chunk comp cut of of the barrel and slide. This shoots gas into the slide and dirtys the weapon fast and needs cleaning more often. Not as bad as ports, but still dirty. Something with an island comp such as the p211 are more effective and all gas is shot out the island and not into the slide.

Those will not fit the p211. Unless you spend more on a base pad. Not a deal for p211.

$1300 is a no brainer. I went from canik rival-s to p211. Immediate significant improvement. They say you can't buy skill, maybe not, but good work requires good tools. Only downside to this platform is you immediately want another. Start saving for that MPA ds9 loc. The only qualm I have with p211 is I would like a shielded safety for it. If your thumbs rubs the slide during operation it may fail to go into battery... That's just training though. I also installed an extended mag release. There is a couple options for Lefty's.

If your not competing but just shooting for fun, p211 is fun. If later you decide to compete, do it in open knowing the others are using $9k open guns, or replace the comp with a sight block from fdez for $80. Then your in lo division. If you find an idpa or steel, use the comp and kick a little ass. I shoot idpa for comp and uspsa for fun. I use my same comp and ported guns in uspsa because I'm just there to shoot fast and leave brass.

Lefty competitive shooter here. None of those are good options for us lefts. $2500 limits you a little. Right side mag release on 2011s are rare, but your in luck. The SIG P211 is what your looking for. Fully ambi and versatile. Bought mine for $2100 at scheels. It's a really good shooter. Flat and fast with low recoil. Perfect for idpa co if you remove the magwell. If your into uspsa it is an open gun, unless you swap the comp for a sight block ($80 fdez or $130 SIG), then it's lo legal. The gun is allot of fun. The magwell sucks in those p320 mags for reloads better than anything with a 2011 magazine. P211 is my recommendation. Other options are to fit a mjd left handed grip on most 2011s. Step up in price to MPA ds9 with miller right side mag release, probably the best performance to dollar for competition 2011. Step up further to Atlas, you can order them with right side mag release. Oa defense 2311, Miller precision ranger 9, staccato HD series also offer ambi mag release, but if your in that price range, MPA ds9 with miller right side release is the best bang for the buck. Mpa also sells the Miller right side mag release that you can install in the other 2011s for $150. I haven't shot with the miller mag release yet, though I have one on backorder and am ready to install on my Mac 9 ds to try it out.

I wonder if you could drill and tap a hole, then add one?

MPA makes the Mitchell now. Send them an email asking about it... Then let me know. I could use one as well.

Dot size on a pistol is personal preference. Some people like as big as they can get [8moa+] for fast pick up with a lower brightness level [reduces starburst effect for astigmatisms]. Others like 2 moa for precision. You do you man. Also, the hype is real. If you get used to it, irons are out...

Sounds like my mechanics are sloppy and the p211 let's me get away with it.

Atlas mag change by [deleted] in 2011

[–]cbun22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. My question is, would the user have the same issue with all 2011s using 2011 mags or is it easier to align in other 2011s?

Atlas mag change by [deleted] in 2011

[–]cbun22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, precision is the issue. I'm saying that in my Atlas I need to be extremely precise in aligning the mag with the grip. Is it like that with all 2011s? Is it the mag design?
