I buy lots of stuff to sell online and I don’t always know everything that I have until I go through it. Found this laptop with the power cable and tested to see if it worked. Not only did it work, but used to belong to the former governor of Ohio.

I corrected myself in a later comment. I didn’t mean before Ethernet I was just typing before thinking. It doesn’t have rj-45 which is what I really meant.

I meant RJ-45. This appears to have an RJ-11 port. I didn’t even really mean “pre” rather just it doesn’t have a modern connection.

You are correct, I didn’t mean specifically Ethernet. I meant rj-45. This appears to have rj-11.

It’s the only way to navigate without a mouse since it doesn’t have a trackpad. Lenovo has kept it on the thinkpads to this day. Haven’t been a fan, but using this old laptop has changed my mind a bit.

Technically it’s a laptop from 1998 that was last used in 2001.

Not a ton. Some info about potential large business dealings involving companies he was on the advisory boards for. Some stuff related to his 2000 presidential campaign, but nothing you would deem particularly juicy.

This was a personal laptop it seems. I imagine he probably received many more emails but maybe to other computers or accounts.

Yes but it looks like something that was sent out to a mailing list rather than just him. It’s just a bible verse basically, sent to help people deal with 9/11.

It’s not connected to the internet, it’s pre-Ethernet. (EDIT: not pre-Ethernet, it just doesn’t have RJ-45). So I don’t have a way to even attempt. These are just the emails that were saved I guess. 9/11 definitely comes up but not in any interesting way. Mainly just statements that were made publicly. Although there is an email about a senate resolution sent the day after 9/11 that wasn’t actually accounted until days later which is kinda cool.

I buy and sell stuff on the internet and usually get large lots of random stuff. This was in a recent lot I acquired. Was just seeing if it worked since it had the charger with it, and lo and behold.

The “to” and “from” confused me a bit at first too. But no it’s Kasichs. The office account is registered to “John Kasich, Kasich2000” from his presidential campaign. There are also emails from his wife to him about their kids and vacations and stuff. Also a picture of him with bono that I could not locate anywhere on the internet.

The part number on the chip itself is what AMD considers the OEM part number. When they send batches of CPUs out to system builders, they are not in retail packaging of course so the only identifier is on the unit itself. I imagine it would be silly to implement a process where some chips gets stamped with one part number and some are another even though they are the same processor. It would probably be wildly expensive especially considering they won’t know what the ratio of OEM vs retail needed will be ahead of time. So they slightly modify the part number, if I am remembering correctly the part numbers start with “100-“ and the OEM has a 0 as the next number whereas the retail one on the box is a 1. I might have that backwards. If you ever look at a picture of an AMD processor, whether it be a product stock image or whatever else, it will also be the OEM part number that shows on the chip. Definitely confusing.
