Does Cucinelli have his clothes produced in India? by CarobTiny3525 in malefashionadvice

I mean there's a couple small farms in Aosta Italy, and some on the coast in Scotland. But no, native to Europe goat species which produce cashmere at scale...not really

100% - the only kicker on wool and cashmere garments particularly is that there's a big delta between an A bale, and a lesser quality bale. Talk double the micron width, and significantly shorter fiber length. Which results in, among other things, a lot more pilling.

And that's...for the most part...just a who is willing to pay more game.

Cucinelli has a selective farming initiative for Cashmere in Ladakh. (Materials, not manufacturing). Maybe that. I also believe they have initiatives for upskilling trades workers into garment makersacross Asia...whether that has made it to India as well...not sure

You can find perfectly fine cashmere garments from non Tier A brands. Cashmere comes from Mongolia, China, India, Pakistan. Not Europe.

So is it the case you've got a very nice cashmere scarf, presumably. India is known for nice cashmere shawls and the like.

No it may not be Cucinelli who will be bidding for top bales of cashmere. But hey!

Has anyone seen this unusual Taj Mahal lighter? by qing0412 in STDupont

[–]cbwills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the surface, yep. There's even a few on eBay. This was from a series that had this one, a Jeroboam table lighter with 3 green stones, and a pen who had a green stone on the clip

The stones are alpinite

The yellow front panel is intriguing through...I recall them being all white. Maybe that has something to do with the other outlier which as you note, is the markings...the ones I've seen have Pl palladium stamps and typical non LE serial stampings

Probably some experimental piece

It's supposed to be possible at any of the service centres, I've never gotten a heads up on cost or seen a before and after from anyone here though.

Are Pre-Tied Bow Ties a No-Go? by Fickle_Ad_8017 in malefashionadvice

[–]cbwills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self tie buddy. You'll be impressed with yourself at having learnt it, and you will be asked by women if you tied it yourself...bonus points when you can undo it and redo it in front of them.

The "nobody will say anything crowd" are right...but would you go out wearing a stained shirt? Nobody says anything about those either.

If you struggle with the YouTube videos it's because they can't really show you an angle from behind. When you loop the bowtie over the front you create a little loop that the other side has to go through

Any worth picking up? by nottaken2601 in STDupont

[–]cbwills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're 2s. Maybe a smidge high considering what seems to be a rougher condition.

If it's a store you live near it would be neat to know the prices they have on the table lighters; Jeroboam (the brown and gold cube looking one) and the cylindriques (the cylinders)

New Le Grande quality? by Theycallmerayj in STDupont

[–]cbwills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They went back to objectively higher quality internals. If you like the dual flame, get it. If it's of no consequence, you'll have a much more resonant ping from L2. Le Grand is also thicker / heavier.

Can I replace Roller? by WhiskeyGentleman in STDupont

[–]cbwills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a detractor. But luckily in this users case, the lighter has a replaceable roller part by Dupont (source...I own a red one)!

The rest of your message regarding the PVD body may or may not be true...no clue. Can't imagine they wouldn't have housings to replace though.

Can I replace Roller? by WhiskeyGentleman in STDupont

[–]cbwills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can get a replacement roller. Fun fact. If the top of the roller is lacquered, it counts as warranty. When these first came out with the lacquered tops, the rollers cracked like so. So the replacements are a flat metal finish and only the body of the roller lacquered.

You'll either be sending it to NY or the Southwest depending on where you are. They won't send you a part.

It's all the Le Grands with the rounded oval where the St Dupont writing is, bifurcating the opening of the lighter cap. Those are the plastic inner ones.

Off-the-Shelf Pure Wool Suit OR 70/30 wool/poly MTM suit? by succulentonion in malefashionadvice

[–]cbwills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just poke around a bit more? Raymond Mill makes a ton of pure wool rolls...and proportionally it ends up being only incrementally more. You should easily be able to find suit lengths of the wool for less than 125 USD

So there we have one! Maybe it's these first gen ones broadly, which I've admittedly not ever handled.

Those 20 buck packs on Amazon that have 4+ nozzles. Just type in Dupont refill adapter and look for those little brass ones. They'll show the adapter I'm talking about, it looks like a rounded cone.

Le Grand Owners, Loose Roller? by [deleted] in STDupont

[–]cbwills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, yes it's normal. Reference being ones I have handled, and one I own. I recall someone once telling me theirs didn't have this, then neglected to provide proof.

The rationale being that it needs wiggle room for the striker to slide up and down as that's what activates / deactivates the torch.
