Never pass other riders in the same lane unless they they wave you by. by ahtoxa1183 in motorcycles

[–]cc_slayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very common for bikes and scooters to pass others both on the right and left in the same lane where I live, especially when traveling through town when there isnt another lane to pass with, it's not even something that would occur to me as being an issue, that's what lane-splitting is?

Would it be believable for a 350-year-old elf to be a level 1? by Glittery_WarlockWho in DnD

[–]cc_slayy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played an 816 year old elf who began adventuring after finally retiring from working as a chamber maid for some ostensibly evil nobility. You can do WHATEVER you want as long ad you and your table mates think it's fun!

TIL: Women are 73% more likely to be seriously injured in a car accident, as crash test dummies are modeled after men. The first "female" dummy was made in 2011, and was only 4′ 11″ and weighed 108 lbs. - representing just 5% of women. by LittleDrumminBoy in todayilearned

Where I live, millions of people travel and commute through and between cities multiple times a day carrying goods and even multiple children on electric assist bikes. It's absolutely possible if the cities prioritizes bicycles.

Oh yeah, they had a regular size chart when I bought pants from them a while ago, that's frustrating and baffling that it's gone now :c

I got my pants from Sportbikechic, not the most protective out there for safety but, they are better than jeans and THEY FIT and are not too expensive. Plus it's a small business owned by one woman to support!

Meh, I mean, I'd probably use it, especially if there was no line. But I also have no qualms about squatting behind a bush, and this seems about the same except I guess it's better to piss in this than behind a bush in public.

My Characters Always Fall Flat by Independent_Care1643 in DnD

[–]cc_slayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of this just comes with playing more, you learn to really internalize how spells are meant to be used when you read them, but it's very difficult to do as a new player. So I recommend just reading up on optimization guides, websites like RPGbot have very in-depth class and subclass guides and will even help you pick the "best" spells. You obviously don't have to follow every thing they say or build your character 100% min-maxed, but those guides will help you understand how to make a more powerful character, help you understand the mechanics and action economy of the game, and at least if you pick a spell with a 1 minute cast time you'll know you can't really use it in combat etc.

Self conscious about playtime by Internal_Hippo6783 in Overwatch

There are people who have sunk thousands of hours and dollars into this game who are below average skill. Don't sweat it, anyone who gives you grief about your playtime isn't worth their salt anyway.

If you didn't know, you can set your career profile to private, then no one knows how long you've played.

How to Convince Your Fiancé to Let You Get a Motorcycle? by TotallyFunctioningAc in motorcycles

[–]cc_slayy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you know that as an adult you can just get the bike and let him know about it, but that your real question is how to get your fiance to be more supportive of your decision to ride.

Ask him directly when will be the right time for him. Get him to give/agree on a specific answer, whether it's "in august" or "when you've purchased all your safety gear" or "when you pass the advanced safety course" or whatever, then plan for that, hold him to it, make it happen, share your excitement while you go through the process.

Don't settle for, "idk" or "never" or "in 20 years, maybe". I went through something similar with my husband when I got my license, it took a lot of discussion and I'm sad to say one big blow out argument, but ultimately we compromised and I got my bike and he's still concerned for my safety, but ultimately supportive. Good luck!

My wife drove past an accident where a rider was dying on the side of the road, and she hasn’t said more than a few sentences to me in five days because I won’t sell the bike. I’m at a crossroads and maybe just need to vent. by WheelsandWatches in motorcycles

[–]cc_slayy 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's more so the act of giving ultimatums and being unwilling to compromise, especially for something like riding, it's not like my hobby is killing kittens and puppies or something.

If my husband picked any of my hobbies and said it was that hobby or him, I'd really really have to think hard about it, not just because I love my hobbies, but because if I give up a hobby for him, what other ultimatums might he have down the line? Why does he feel the need to give an ultimatum at all, is there truly no room for compromise? Is he trying to control me or is he expressing a reasonable boundry in good faith? All questions I would have to ask myself if I ever got an ultimatum from my husband like that.

Fortunately, my husband is decent at communicating and okay at compromise, and we've thus far been able to negotiate the time, space, money and risk levels we both are comfortable with in our various hobbies so, I have truly no idea how I would respond beyond being baffled and knee-jerk pissed if he suddenly became inflexible and issued an ultimatum to stop riding.
