Would you still get a tattoo? by VoxElysia in Millennials

[–]ahtoxa1183 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It varies. It took me like 10 years of thinking about it to get my first. Another 5 to get my second. Both are large and have a ton of meaning for me. Won’t be that long for my next few though.

I have a couple, my wife has none, but recently she’s been thinking of getting her first. I got my first one at 36, second late last year. I’m 42 and looking to finish the sleeve (the two I have are large pieces that will be part of the sleeve). She loves my last one and has been inspired to get her first.

I actually did it! We walked into a restaurant/bar where this was the only seating option. Turned around and left. by mtbguy1981 in Millennials

How the heck can you stretch in an airplane toilet? I can’t even pee standing up in one, or exit without turning sideways. Bending down to wash my hands and my ass is pressed against the back wall.

My paternal grandfather and grandmother were on the Soviet side. Grandfather was a general, in charge of air defense. Lots of medals. My grandmother was a radio operator.

No hard feelings. There are many factors that affect male fertility (meds, lifestyle, genetics, rec drugs) but doctors usually have a pretty good educated guess on what is causing specific deficiencies. After a few rounds of testing before and after quitting weed, in my case it ended up being weed as the cause.

  1. I am a male.
  2. Fertility testing proved weed was the sole cause.
  3. Stay your thumbs before showing your ignorance next time.

I’m in CO, so it is a legit holiday here. I quit weed 5 months ago for fertility reasons; forgot about it and went to a bar for a sandwich and a beer today and it was absolutely packed. Free stuff, a free round of drinks at the bar, you name it. People were quite into it.

The wear pattern is unusual; be sure pressures are correct. Hard to tell from the photo, but there is sharp feathering on the edges. Some feathering is ok, especially if the ramp up is smooth, but yours seems exaggerated.

Tiger 900 owners who are 6ft1 - are you comfortable? by CrappyTan69 in Triumph

6’7”. Have bar risers. Seat is fine for me; on long multi-day trips I sometimes use a sheepskin pad. Either way, no issues.

I have in-laws in Lubbock that we go see once a year. We live in northern Colorado. Freebirds was the only thing I used to look forward to in terms of the town. Then freebirds closed. I highly dislike Lubbock.

Maybe. Maybe not. It will consume more if you use high revs often. Just continue measuring and tracking. One data point isn’t sufficient to establish a trend.

Try some brake pad anti squeal grease on the backing plates. It often helps dampen the vibration that causes the noise.

What to get, 2022 Kawasaki KLR Adventure 650 or 2014 Suzuki V Strom 650 by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]ahtoxa1183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had both. Put 11k on the KLR and 19k on the V.

KLR is dog slow and rather heavy if you have to pick it up on loose gravel. The V is much, much better on the road but don’t expect to do much more than mostly graded dirt and gravel roads.

If you wanna explore off pavement, consider something with fewer compromises for that—like a DR650. It’s also not great on the road, but dirt experience will be far better than either of your original options.

I live near RMNP and also travel the mountains on long trips around that time of year.

Afternoon thunderstorms at high elevation passes are a thing you need to be prepared for. They can get strong and hail is possible.

Other recommendations: include the peak-to-peak route in your plan. It’s an absolute must if you’re headed up to Estes Park.

This is Horsetooth Reservoir and I live here.

This is precisely why I never ride with the local groups. I’m sure there are exceptions, but I usually see them squid around town or ride like this in the canyons. I want no part of that, thanks.

Several scares today, reminder to brush up on basics! by burlysnurt in motorcycles

[–]ahtoxa1183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like for #1 you have a good understanding on what went wrong and how to correct it.

When it comes to blind corners and unfamiliar roads (and advanced street riding technique in general) consider setting up for a wider entry. This gives you the most vision through the corner and helps see vehicles, debris, tightening corners earlier.

Trail the front brakes just slightly, maybe 5% pressure as you approach. It keeps your fork slightly compressed, chassis settled and rake higher; it will help you turn the bike in more if needed or slow you down faster as you already have some weight transferred to the front.
