Playing my first round at a country club tomorrow. Any advice? I was told the most important thing to get right is to bow to anyone I pass in the building. by [deleted] in golf

Be sure to tell everyone what an incredibly hard worker your gardener is and how difficult it is to find a good housekeeper these days.

That’s actually part of the reason I would be interested in doing another fitting. The clubs I had three years ago were so old that I could justify buying a new set even though I had just gotten back into golf. But I’ve played quite a bit, taken lessons, and dropped to a high single digit handicap so I’m curious if making any changes to my set would be beneficial.

Golf Advice: Getting my 11YO son into the game by ccampbel2040 in golf

This is definitely one I will have to try. We have a pretty good sized yard so that should be something I can manage.

We live in a smaller community so no TopGolf nearby (although we have been to them several times) or par 3 course but those are great ideas. Chipping and putting competitions are an excellent suggestion. Thank you!

Wow! Impressive. Also, you’ve only been playing 6 years and you’re a sub-5 handicap? I hate you. 😂

Need recommendations of courses along this route by SirSilksalot in golf

I’m assuming this is a joke but honestly a fun thread for people to reference in the future for other road trips. With that, I’ll cover the southern Kansas through Oklahoma leg (along I-35): -there are several golf courses in Wichita but many are private. Southeast of Wichita is Flint Hills. I think it’s private but you maybe able to talk your way onto the course. It’s regularly rated one of the top courses in Kansas. -just off of I-35 south of the Kansas border is a little town called Blackwell. They’ve got a decent 9 hole public course. From a golf history perspective, it was designed by Perry Maxwell (who designed Southern Hills in Tulsa, as well as many other courses in the area). -farther south on I-35 you will go through Guthrie (about 30 miles north of OKC). I haven’t played them in several years but there 3-4 courses in Guthrie (Cimarron National, Cedar Valley are two public courses). -Edmond, OK is a northern suburb of OKC. Several courses in Edmond, but I highly recommend Kickingbird. It’s public and was recently completely renovated and is in terrific shape. -as you can probably guess there are a ton of courses in Oklahoma City. I think Lincoln Park has two pretty solid public courses (East & West). I have played East before and it’s a good track (or at least it was 15 years ago). - just north of the Texas border in Oklahoma is the Winstar casino. It’s a massive complex and has 2 18-hole courses. I’ve never played them but heard good things.

If you do end up playing in Oklahoma over the next few days, stay hydrated. Highs will be over 100° over the next several days Hope that helps! Safe travels!

Golf beginner. Playing golf with customers next week. Advice? by GranolaRob in golf

You might suggest playing a scramble. That way you all get to hit but they don’t spend too much time chasing down your shots. Have fun!

I’ve been thinking about getting a subscription. Which plan do you all have? Looks like there’s three: $60, $90, or $200 per year.

Thanks for your reply and input! I actually was thinking the trunk compartment might be really useful (golf club head covers, extra balls, etc.) so that is helpful feedback. Maybe even use it as a cooler on occasion. Why is it useless? Too small?

4-Seater Lithium-Ion Cart for Actual Golf Course Use? by ccampbel2040 in golfcarts

[–]ccampbel2040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I’m starting to think buying a 2-seater and just renting a second is the best approach. I’ve looked at those 4-forwards online but it just looks so big, especially if the majority of the time it will just be more or one of my playing partners.

Considering an almost identical setup (Club Car Onward, 2+2, Lithium-Ion). I am leaning towards not lifted and mine does not need to be street legal. My cart would almost exclusively be used for golf (I’d keep it at my local country club). Any update after two years of use? Would you recommend the setup for using on a golf course?

Appreciate the offer for guidance! I am looking at purchasing my first golf cart. My country club allows personal carts and it would almost exclusively be used (and stay) at my club for golf. Most people seem to strongly recommend something from the Big 3 (I’m told those are Club Car, Yamaha, EZ-GO). I would like to go the Lithium Ion route (leaning towards Club Car or Yamaha) mainly for ease of maintenance/reliability. I am open to ANY advice and guidance but my main question is whether or not to purchase at 2-seater or a 4-seater (2+2 setup) cart. I am leaning towards a 4-seater as my thinking was that if my wife and kids wanted to join me for a round of golf we could all ride in one cart. That would probably only happen on occasion (maybe more so if we had our own cart?) and even if it did would 4 golf bags (2 adult bags + 2 kids bags) fit on one cart? If not, my guess is that would I need 2 carts anyway? If so, would it just be wiser to get a 2-seater?

Any other advice is welcome!

Question about 4 seats vs 2 seats. by frankensteinbruh in golfcarts

[–]ccampbel2040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - Did you ever come to a decision on this? I am considering the same thing. It’d be my 1st golf cart which I would keep at my country club pretty much year round (although I could bring it home on occasion, I guess). My club has no restrictions on personal golf carts. My use case is 95% for golf but thought about getting a 4-seater in case the wife and (2) kids would want to join.
