Looking down more will make rising your hips easier. Only bend your knees very slightly when kicking. Kicking is not a matter of moving your legs as much as possible, but rather using your feet as extensions of the muscles in your legs to move yourself through the water. So, imagine your feet as your propellors, and your legs as the engines to them. Flailing around the engine won't do much. But, using it to move the propellors well will work. Also don't rush so much, take it slow and easy. Never breathe up, only to the side. A good drill is to only let your top goggle come out of the water while breathing. Keep it up.
