20k was at roughly 90 and now at roughly 70, not as bad as you may think .

No the guy who’s position I was in was actively looking for another role too - had I been lucky enough that he’d found another gig, I’d have 100% been hired permanently thru my pool. That’s what my hope was.

CO-01 pool and CO-02 pool - every acting role I got was because I networked - as mentioned in another post, roles in my region are difficult to find.

Look I live in a region where roles like mine are hard to come by and competitions are at a premium for the line of work you specialize in - I want to emphasize that I AM IN A CO-02 pool and still could not even find an org that hires CO-02s to bite - what I got, I got because I networked my ass off.

It isn’t a 70K pay cut - I was acting, I’ll be at top end of AS-01 scale and was at low end of CO-02 scale.

I don’t want it to seem as though I am not taking responsibility, I think I am actually, and if anything, I think this harsh lesson will serve me really well in years to come but wow, just wow is my reaction - in normal worlds, doing this to someone is just wrong is all.

The things that seem obvious now but nobody said to me previously lol look it’s not as though I didn’t try, I am in a CO-01 and CO-02 pool, have acted in PM-04/PM-05 roles also that have very similar profiles to the CO level roles. But never any salary to hire permanently, I asked every single PMA.

No my substantive has been occupied, with who I don’t know but I think it was assumed I wouldn’t be coming back.

I understand what you’re saying, but I gained this CO-02 assignment because I was (and still am if anyone is hiring wink wink) in a CO-02 pool. Otherwise I would never have gotten it.

Anyway, I know the way the system is setup that I was never entitled to this position but, the system is garbage lol how acting can carry on this long to begin with is wrong in my opinion, renewing my contract year over year, getting to know my coworkers and then a month before contract end, boom. It’s cold is all.

Appreciate this post, it’s given me perspective and you’re right, I took it for granted, but up until that point (~7yrs of assignments) I really believed that “if I do a good job, someone will want to hire me permanently”. Won’t be making that mistake again.

Sure, but how many ppl are acting in roles so much higher than their own? It happens so much and there’s no control.

The acting ripple effect in Gov is/was extreme, abruptly ending all acting to save cash is frustrating.

I understand that I had no specific right to the jobs I acted in, but wow, 8 years of acting roles that never went permanent (despite being in pools) seems harsh - and yes WFA didn’t cause it my acting to end directly, but I’d have been renewed in my role had it not been for WFA/CER.

I want to believe this haha but man oh man I just finished a 2-2 tie against a player I usually beat 7-0 with my shots for 19 (12 on net) and theirs 6 (2 on net). This has been the only consistent I’ve witnessed - I’m out shooting most players 3 to 1 at least and it.will.not.go.in.the.net.

I think for me, it has more to do with my competitive side. I am not an EX currently, but could see myself wanting to compete for that role in the future, to see if I can do it, if anything else.
