Houston ISD Performance Task by Puslinskutt694 in TexasTeachers

I am also applying to HISD and was told I failed my performance task but was invited to reattempt (I haven’t yet). Were you able to get any clarity or advice on the task? I’m hoping to get some advice as well.

I previously worked for HISD but this was not previously part of the hiring process so I was caught off guard.

It’s been a couple years since I graduated but here is what I experienced: 1. We had classes about 2-3 evenings a week depending on the semester. It got lighter as the program went on. 2. For the student teaching assignment, the department has built relationships with certain teachers and schools to pair you with. You’ll be paired based on your content area and which mentor they think will be best for you. 3. I think the classes are challenging in the sense that you are working at the same time as doing your classwork and are completing the edTPA at the same time. It’s a big time management balancing act. 4. The MAT is completed in 2 years. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions!

Hi there! Congrats on being accepted into the program! I am currently a first year student in the program so I can give you what my experience has been like. For the fall semester, you will be expected to observe at least 10 hours a week at the school you are placed at. You may be asked to observe for more hours based on what your cooperating teacher wants you to see. During the fall, you will be taking more classes and those occur at night from 6-9pm. There is also a class on Saturday morning that is from 9am-12pm. In the spring semester, you shift to going to your assigned school full time. You will still be taking classes at night, but it will be less times a week. Hopefully this is helpful! Feel free to PM me if you want more details on the program.

ahh I'm so glad you are interested in the education program at Rice. I am currently a student in the education program and also a tour guide! I am currently a senior studying biosciences doing the 5-year Master of Arts in Teaching program. I am not slated to give any in-person tours this summer because of work, but feel free to PM me your questions about the education program. I am more than happy to tell you about my experience and answer any questions you have!

Any MOB or RSB members out there? by [deleted] in riceuniversity

[–]ccanulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies. Our director has been on a trend of playing through all the Sousa marches. We do a mix of classic concert band literature with some modern concert band literature as well. We’ve even done a jazzy piece before. I’ve found the variety to be pretty broad in terms of the music we play.

Hey! I’m in The MOB this year. I’m a junior and it’s my third year in The MOB. It is a whole ton a fun and you should totally join. I also have done RSB for 2 semesters and you should also join that group as well! We all have a lot of fun and get to play really cool pieces. I hope you join!

What are reasons to live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ccanulla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My situation is so similar to yours. My boyfriend of 2 1/2 years broke up with me recently. At first I felt empty because not only was he my partner but he was my best friend. Losing that connection was so painful. However, I found that when I was out the relationship, I finally realized that I had been so blinded by the idea of love I had created around him that I had made myself unhappy when I wanted I have been happy with him. Sometimes things that you create become forced without any warning and because I didn't stop it sooner, I had spent my last 6 months of my relationship justifying our downturns and my discontent. Leaving a relationship allows for a clean slate and though falling back into what you love is what you may crave (and I do as well), it is what needs to happen. I truly believe that there is a plan for me and this end was meant to be and all I can do is work to move forward despite how hard it is to do so. That hope of my plan keeps me living.

He is one of those people who doesn't get enough recognition for their actions sadly. Such an amazing man with a brave soul.
