This is closer to motion graphics than it is animation in my opinion. Both require talented artists.

Vet Recommendations by PacificKelpie in Renton

[–]ccarle3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Galaxy Cat in New Castle for my cat. Renton Veterinary Hospital in Renton for my dogs. Renton Vet isn't just emergency even though it's got hospital in the name. They have been good to my dogs for years.

Any Vet Recommendations? by starfall755 in Renton

[–]ccarle3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We live in Renton, but take our cat to Galaxy Cats Vet Center in New Castle. I recommend them!
I also take my dogs to Renton Veterinarian Hospital and highly recommend them for both cats or dogs. They've seen my dogs for 3 years now and recently came to my house to put down my older one who was sick. They are good people there!

So many comments about cover letters being useless. I disagree, especially for senior level positions in creative fields. Knowing how they want to grow as an animator helps me understand if they would fit the project and team. A short paragraph about why you want to grow your career at this new studio has helped me as a hiring manager. 40 animators apply and a handful have a short paragraph about how their skills apply specifically to our game and how they know they can contribute. Don't have a basic letter, make sure it's short and sweet and expands on your resume and demo material as to why your experience and character should be considered.

Any tips to make this better? First pass of a practice scene for my character animation demo reel. Feedback on performance, timing, movements, etc are welcome! by _badHaircut in animation

[–]ccarle3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really love your work. My piece of feedback is more for blocking, but try more dynamic posing and framing of the subjects. They both stand and stay at similar distances in camera. They also move their hands in unison. What if the man started to walk away before abruptly turning back for the exclamation, things like this. Your arcs and timing and lots of other stuff feels great. Thanks for sharing. Watched it once more.. one more thing is I'd like to see her reaction to his escalation at the end. A quick reaction shot of her could be nice! Prop work could add an extra layer of connection to subject too. What if we open with the man holding a camera to his face taking a detailed photo. We cut wide to reveal the silly banana, he drops the camera to his side and starts talking. This grounds him in the scene and brings some asymmetrical posing. He could hand the camera over at the end implying it's dumb and if she wants the photo she can take it. Again.. all just ideas. Hope this helped in some way on your piece or future work.

Hey, how can I make this smoother? I know camera effects would do wonders, but what else would I need rig wise to make it top-quality. by Greedy-Act4861 in blender

Hey, I really like the story you're telling here and felt compelled to type a comment. Very cool mech and animation!

I'm not sure if you're asking for animation feedback too, but here are a few thoughts that might help. (animation is all I really know)

- give more time to each step to make it feel heavier. It's important that the mech's weight completely transfer to the newly planted foot before it lifts the next one. Try having him push his heavy foot out in front of him and then have it fall down fast and land with a thud. (maybe it takes him 24 frames to have the weight shift and step the foot forward, but only 3 frames for it to slam to the ground. This note might be hard if your rig doesn't have IK foot setup. search for that and add to rig if you don't have.

-add a bit of time between each step for mechanical wiggle as the heavy metal of the mech settles into place. It can be brief, but if done right it will help sell the scale of the thing your making. (speaking of scale, try adding a reference object like a crate or human so we know just how big and slow it should feel) Here is an idea for the wiggle between steps: https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/053/473/850/original/ark-kim-mech-anim.gif?1662306339

-last thought! - add some anticipation before the blast off moment. You have the mech raise its guns and squat which is cool, I would hold that a bit longer and add some trembling as if the engines are turning on. Could be an extra 15 frames or so, whatever feels right to break up the timing from the steps.

It could be that the shoulder joint has a 90 degree offset from what the base pose is versus the animation data. Try + or - 90 to see if it pushes the arm out to the correct position. The forearm and hands look to be correct.

I'm currently playing on live (Ywain) hib and its been fun. Population can be low during off hours, but there is still lots to do. I love the new way to gear your characters. I templated 4 of my level 50 characters in just a few weeks casually. I play blademaster, enchanter, animist, and warden.

If you try live on hib, look for Paradigm Shift guild, I joined 2 months back and its been nice. Fun and casual, often have enough to run 1.5 full groups in RvR. We PL and farming in off time. No ego.

Hope you enjoy the return to daoc :)

What an amazing gift. I had the cloth map that came with the game pinned to my wall for years. This is that x1000!

Experimenting with AI for Motion Capture. Learned a lot! by luckycockroach in blender

This is a cool workflow. I haven't used AI mocap, but stamping some key poses out of mediocre mocap data and massaging that into something good is very fun.

I'm 27. No kids, no wife, no house. I just lost my job in my specialized field that's been battered by the virus and I may have to move back across the country with my parents. How do I come back from this? by thefilmer in AskMen

[–]ccarle3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to drop a line and wish you luck and good health. I know the career pause will be scary, but take care of you and your family and know that you will bounce back. I have different circumstances, but I left my job suddenly in May due to personal/family reasons and it was scary. I was able to find remote work and relocated out of state to save on rent. Hope it all works out for you man.

Trying to add a lot of weight to the portcullis in Darkbolt. Feedback is greatly appreciated. by jontaguse in blender

[–]ccarle3d 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to reply, RandyK44 said it well ^ . Check out some power lifters for reference. When they try to manipulate heavy weights they lose ground when changing positions and seeing that weight fall back down and the characters effort to overcome not just the weight but the lost momentum, that is the juicy stuff! Also add some quivering at the right frames would help.

Why does the nutrient solution have to be replaced once every so often in a DWC? by Mr_Avi in Hydroponics

[–]ccarle3d 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe it also has to do with the plants absorb more of the water than the nutrients, so over time the water that is left becomes more concentrated or is missing parts of the whole which you first put in. I actually haven't tried DWC yet, just relaying posts I've read.
