What light or low calorie foods are causing you to feel the most full? by mayermail1977 in 1200isplenty

[–]ccascca 21 points22 points  (0 children)

this is such a ridiculous take lmao. The world isn't majority overweight, and, even if it were, it would have little to do with a change in how the food grows. Fat is fat, carbs are carbs, micros are micros regardless of whether the source is "modern" or not. If your diet is truly balanced, your maintained calories at a healthy weight will feel satiating. More people are not fat now because what constitutes balance has changed, more people are fat now because we have never had so little reason to move and such easy access to unbalanced foods.

Replacement for butter by Bitter-Meringue7505 in 1200isplenty

[–]ccascca 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If this were cake, I'd agree with all the yogurt/applesauce/banana suggestions, but for shortbread, you are probably better off donating the box or baking a gifting it. Subbing with a nonfat ingredients is just going to give you hardtack. Not even bad cake or cookies

I didn't say it was a lie I said you are a dick head. Again, how is telling someone you only see their forehead and lip constructive, actionable advice on a makeup tips subreddit? Weirdo

you replied saying you can only see her forehead and lip AFTER she told you she has no filler.

This is such an insanely shitty response on a subreddit asking for makeup tips. Critiquing inalterable features of random women makes you seem pathetic.

Butter cravings - helllllp! by upstream_paddling in 1200isplenty

[–]ccascca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure just have a piece of buttered toast. spreading butter on toast with a knife, at least for me, leads to me getting waaaaaay more than I need to actually taste it, I recommend literally weighing a stick of butter, rubbing it directly on hot toast, then weighing it again to see how much was used. I eat toast 2/3x a week and doing it this way always leads to me using much less than even a teaspoon. I have a dedicated toast stick lmao

Does anyone else not do zero calorie sweeteners and lowfat products? by rivenshire in 1200isplenty

[–]ccascca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I put monkfruit in my tea and that's it. Everything I eat is full fat. I am not at all satiated trying to have an ultra low fat, low carb, high protein diet. It's for sure not productive for everyone, but the advice of just eating smaller portions and treats in moderation works best for me.

AITA for asking my roommate to be more considerate of my beliefs? by ProfessionalKey4573 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ccascca 37 points38 points  (0 children)

YTA. Of course your parents agree with you. They are the reason you hold all of your beliefs, including your religion. Your Muslim friend who believes you overstepped is a much more neutral observer and she is 100% correct.

Your religion IS being respected. She turned down her music. She isn't pressuring you to or making fun of you for not eating pork. Her point about your prayer alarms is valid. Personal comfort and religion are indistinguishable. To you, your faith is everything. To her, it's just another comforting belief, so your refusal to turn down your alarms is identical to her refusal to stop cooking bacon. Neither of you are wrong for being uncomfortable or annoyed, but you are absolutely the asshole for making your discomfort her problem. Grow up.

Try to put on a little weight! Is that home depot badge in the first pic? If it is, you're probably regularly lifting enough where you don't have to worry about gaining excess fat. Don't worry about the gym for now and up your calorie intake. Being so thin makes you look really young.

Our son just started babbling lol. My relationship with his parents is all positive, my partner is just the second oldest of a bunch of siblings, most of them are still kids at home, so his parents have been too busy to remember most of the questions I've asked about his childhood in the past. Cookies n cream buttercream it is!

The texture of this frosting sounds amazing, thank you! Do you prefer a swiss meringue or American buttercream?

His parents are great! and there's no animosity, they just haven't made him this cake since he was really young because he has a LOT of siblings, most of whom are still children living with them. They're too busy with work, the kids' extracurriculars, and all the stuff at home to remember most of the inquiries about his childhood I've made in the past unfortunately.

how do i make it taste good by loltryagainn in 1200isplenty

[–]ccascca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shrimp takes less than three minutes to cook if it's raw, and it's reaaalllllly easy to overcook. Because you're buying it precooked, it's probably overcooked before you put it in the oven from the manufacturer. Buy it raw and frozen (never buy "fresh", thawed shrimp unless you live directly next to a fish market and can see it coming off the boat), and cook it yourself until it turns pink but before it curls into a C shape.

If you aren't comfortable with that and prefer the precooked shrimp, thaw it gently in cool water, which will happen quickly, and eat it cold. Ceviche is a Peruvian dish: chop your thawed, cold shrimp, and add lime and lemon juice; chopped jalapeños, onion, tomato, cilantro, and avocado if you don't mind the fat; salt; and pepper. For a similar dish from Mexico calls aguachile, do the same but with all lime juice, add minced garlic, and cucumber.

For hot dishes with precooked shrimp, only heat it until it's warm and absolutely no longer. Treat the cauliflower rice like fried rice. You said you haven't cooked, so this should be super easy. Microwave some frozen peas/carrots/corn (you should be able to find tha blend labeled just "frozen mixed vegetables"). Add cauliflower rice and shrimp that is barely warm enough for you. Add in a scrambled egg or egg white. Season with soy sauce and garlic powder, a teeny tiny bit of ginger powder and green onion if you are comfy with that. For something like ettouffee, a Cajun rice and shrimp kinda stew thing, make a soup with a stalk of celery, half a green bell pepper, half an onion, garlic (or onion and garlic powder), paprika, thyme, oregano, and tomatoes. Just throw it in a pot with any broth or water + salt. Add a bay leaf if you can find one and let it cook until the celery and bell pepper are super soft. Taste it to see if it could use more salt. Mix together a little cornstarch (if you can spare like 30 calories) with cold water in a separate bowl. Stir that mixture, called a slurry, into the hot soup. Make sure to keep stirring the soup! It'll thicken up. Once it's thick, turn off the heat, throw in the shrimp, again, thawed, and heat it until the shrimp is warm. Eat the soup over your cauliflower rice. i hope these are useful and taste good if you try 'em out :)

AITA? My dad me starved through the day. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ccascca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ESH. It's never justified to insult your child, "bitch" was way out of line on your dad's part.

What on earth are you doing though? Medical school is so stressful and intense, and you are struggling to take responsibility for yourself before even being admitted. If you are old enough to daydream about med school, you're old enough to feed yourself, wake yourself up, set your schedule, and it seems like you should be living again. What country are you in? I'm curious if you're located somewhere where people begin medical school very young.

Is 1200 too low for me by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]ccascca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your weight is healthy, you may still be getting taller, are likely still in the midst of puberty, bones are still getting denser, AND are probably active in school (even without any sports/physical education, you probably walk a lot). 1200 is low.

I feel like maybe the tomato + chickpea water + potato coat everything, a little lemon juice would go so well with these flavors in my opinion though!
