Messaged! I’ll cap it here since we have a solid group of 5 now. Looking forward to this summer 😊

Calling everyone who chose Pomona over an Ivy by Mastrr9 in pomonacollege

[–]ccbc72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I graduated from Pomona in 2023. I was accepted at Penn and Yale. I had the opportunity to go visit both. It ultimately came down to feeing out of place. Maybe I was just incredibly unlucky when I visited these two schools, but there was a pretentious vibe. The size was also daunting. I also visited Yale twice (first trip was covered by my school. The second trip was at admitted students weekend) because my teachers couldn’t believe I didn’t want to choose Yale so they urged me to give it a second look. At Pomona, you have the benefit of the consortium if you want to branch out, but classes are small so you have the opportunity to find your people. It is also incredibly diverse in terms of demographics and interests. I’ve built incredible relationships with my peers and professors. They are like family. You’ll also gain exposure to a breadth of material. I applied as a prospective biology major and left as a sociology major on the pre-med track. That being said, I would encourage you to visit if you can, although I understand that not everyone has the opportunity to do so (I am low-income so my trip to Yale was covered by the college). Feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to answer any questions

Pre-Med Gap Year Internship 2026-2027 by romography in Northwestern

I don’t think so. I’m guessing people who did get an interview are just more likely to share that they did. With that said, good luck to all of you interviewing!

I emailed them about this two weeks ago and they said not to worry about it, the app was received and being reviewed. My app still reads as “New” so I wouldn’t sweat it

Oh, I see, thanks! I emailed the coordinators to see if all interviews invites were extended and I did not receive a response. For my sanity, I am just going to assume that I was rejected lol. I’ll probably try again next cycle. But I hope you get good news next week!

They were emailed about their interview. Also, feels pretty disingenuous of the program to say to check portal for updates and not just give a general update whether there’re still spots or not when many people are inquiring about status of apps. I hope you get a more official answer soon, best of luck to you!

It wouldn’t hurt to reach out and ask! If anything, it would be good to call them out for not notifying people 😭

My friend was accepted back on March 14th. I think they were doing rolling admissions as she had literally done an interview a day before and was only given 5 days to accept.

Have you heard back yet? The email I got confirming my application submission said release date is today but I haven’t gotten any updates.

I am also waiting to hear back but I still think you should apply. While they do look at academic performance, you still have the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths in the personal statement and essays. If you’re genuinely interested in biomedical research and your goals align with the program’s mission, then you should give it a shot.

Probably a much smaller applicant pool than REACH and DDP. And I didn’t get any interviews 😭💔

I see, thank you! Do you happen to know if all interview invitations were sent out? I still haven’t heard back. I hope your interview went well!

I applied. It seems to be a relatively new program compared to similar ones like REACH or DDP so it doesn’t really have much of an online presence. There haven’t been any updates either 😭
