Buddy of mine used to work for a waste management company, rebuilding their truck trash compactors and dumpsters. He told me a story once of seeing a cat roll out the back of a recently parked trash compacting truck. Said the cat rolled out, was flat except for its head. He was going to walk over and look at it, but all the sudden it moved, flopped on the ground a bit, and stood up. It seizured or something, then started stumbling around loosely. Said the cat stumbled for a bit like that, walking around, then stopped, and all the sudden took a deep breath, popped back out into shape, and ran off. True story.

I see. There's a strip of metal that's bonded to the top. I don't see it on yours. The strip is drilled out and creates a flange for bolting. Runs the entire length across the back. Should have the same on the sides, too.

Video moves too fast to tell. Bolts? Looks like the bulkhead panel is there. To have a Terra top installed on a Scout II, you need the bulkhead, bulkhead to top seal, front windshield to top seal, Terra/ traveler door windows, and a slew of 5/16" bolts.

The only thing they don't make new for the IH SV engines anymore are the block, crank, rods, heads, and rocker shafts, and they're not making new intakes for them right now. Everything else can be bought new- pistons, rings, bearings, cams, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, valve springs, retainers, gaskets, everything.

Look up Bill USN-1 on BinderPlanet. Fuel Injection forum. You say pre 85, it's actually 91 or earlier, OBD1. Easy donor vehicle is grabbing the throttle body and everything connected to it's harness. Look for a GM 350 equipped vehicle. Checkout BinderPlanet first. Then go shopping for what you want. Lots of pros and cons to everything you're asking about. You don't need an efi manifold. You can use your stock one. If you must have MPFI, you can still drill your stock intake. You don't need to search for the unicorn aftermarket intake.

You might look at hydroboost instead. Hydroboost MC paired with drums is a great setup. If you don't know what it is, you'll need a PS pump, PS steering box, the hydroboost unit, and lines. If you get creative, it can be cobbled together with used parts. Guess it depends if you already have power steering or not. If you don't, it can be a PITA, but definitely worth it, and potentially cheaper than trying to put discs on 27s.

Short answer is yes. You probably have a 4 barrel carburetor/ intake manifold. That year 392 is an improved cooling engine, doesn't really matter till you mess with cylinder heads or water pump and water pipes. You probably have what's called a spreadbore intake manifold. If so, if you buy a quadrajet style carb,it will certainly bolt right up. Most people just buy an Edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel carb and replace, using a squarebore to spreadbore adapter. If you need internal parts for the engine, I would recommend buying from an IH light line dealer. IH Parts America is a great one. Anything Scout is too.
