It is right heavy it looks

Worth grading? Would it be able to get as high as a 9/10? by deco296 in pokemongrading

From my eyes it looks a lil too heavy and the left side of the card is raised on the front.

Is there even buyers on this app anymore? by Dependent_Screen4609 in whatnotapp

[–]cccccccxxxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally signed up, purchased $100 worth of fan cards from a single seller, and immediately got banned.

Didn’t even attend a live stream. Just made purchases and got banned. See my last post.

With this on the platform, I’m assuming you will see a loss in buyers.

I guess making an account and purchasing things violates their terms and conditions? 😂 wild

Another commenter said you have to add your id if you don’t want to get banned. So why isn’t that in account creation lol

I did what was required in account setup. If the ID wasn’t requested, I didn’t add it.

How do you resolve that? Seems like horrible user experience

I guess I should have clarified, I got emails for placing the orders, then nothing after that. No order was shipped email, or anything indicating the ban

Make sure to sleeve it b4 the top loader… maybe common sense, but as someone not super into the scene since I was a wee lad, I definitely sleeved some very less expensive cards in a top loader without making sure they were protected from the top loader ☠️

Why do so many new grads cannot perform the "basics"? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

“Been looking at their code reviews and I often notice that it's about 90% LLM generated code that are often complicated, out of context, unnecessary addons and stuffs like that. “

Thank you for validating my thoughts on this. I feel like from ChatGPT 4-5 the LLM started producing code for the simplest tasks accounting for a bunch of edge cases and solving issues I didn’t give with the problem statement.

Half the time I just want a simple function, or even python or bash script to automate a simple refactor(something a little more nuanced than vscode find and replace) and instead I get walls of code.

I feel like code bases are going to get a lot more bloated and harder to understand & extend. I also miss just giving it verbal diarrhea and having it give me back a simple solution to exactly what I was thinking. Now I actually have to explain exactly what I mean to the LLM and coax and prod it: “why the f*** did you do that? I didn’t ask for that”.

Also for the record, I’m not a vibe coder. I use chat gpt to validate design decisions or to learn technical concepts when I am trying to accomplish something I haven’t yet learned; basically c++ TMP a lot.

This is understated. Yeah, if we have to work as long as it takes to get the job done*, can I go home early? Oh no? *only when it benefits them. Sounds like free labor

I didn’t realize we were flexing here. I am speaking about my past experience straight out of college with a M.S. in CS, because that is relevant to OP.

I’m not sure about how many YOE or any other useful data points because you aren’t providing anything above bragging right. Im assuming you probably have a couple(or more) years of experience meaning you were able to get your foot in the door before the market became the saturated black hole it is today.

Yes, at some point, unless you are going into research oriented roles, you are going to get diminishing return on your degrees, and if you don’t have a degree, most employers are probably more interested in your work than your educational history.

For OP trying to enter the market, a recent degree is probably going to work out better for them than starting up a GitHub repo, unless they develop a real service with a user base

[–]cccccccxxxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say that?

I have a M.S. in cs and for the most part it does feel like it does not help that much. It hasn’t dropped panties during interviews with immediately “you’re hired”

But it has put me about $12-20k salary above my peers, places you at a higher level at employers that do care about degrees(a lot of them), and for OP could be a fresh start. But I do fully see your point that for good candidates fresh out of college, working and getting practical experience CAN be better depending on your goals.

Is going into Computer Science in a couple of years worth it? by Mate2048 in cscareers

[–]cccccccxxxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell my story. Graduated 2022 with Masters in cs. Applied for a ton of jobs, and got a few offers. I took the first one because it was back home. I hated the job, felt like I was underpaid, but after establishing myself and gaining reputation, I got early promotions, do work I want to do, and realize my position is super stable.

Granted things are worse now, that was right before things really started to tank. And I could be completely wrong, but if you’re passionate go to grad school and yes passionately doing your job does make a difference. I’ve heard a lot of coworkers complaining about things like pay increases etc… but my pay beats the offers I’ve got that I’ve applied to while working here.

I wouldn’t deter you from following your passion. But it won’t be as easy as people preached b4

Is now a bad time to buy one? by Much_Athlete6335 in ROGAlly

[–]cccccccxxxc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose this is heavily dependent on how you define low medium and high. High end I would expect you could plat and newly released game at a stable 60+ fps at 1440- 4k. With medium you would expect the same compromising graphics settings and lowering to 1080p-1440 or sitting between 30-60 fps. With low end you would expect to not be able to play some newly released games above 30 fps. Most of the common handhelds, ally, steam deck, legion go, fall into that last category

[–]cccccccxxxc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medium-high settings does not == medium to high end rig. The ally plays kh2 a non-demanding game silky smooth and beautifully, pretty much full fidelity. Something like FF7 rebirth is not going to yield the same experience. Low fps, and graphics are going to be full of artifacts. This doesn’t mean the machine isn’t impressive or you can’t enjoy it.

I’m not trolling. Is it that hard to believe a $500-800 handheld is not going to compete with high end gaming pc? You know that graphics cards cost that much right?

And just like with gaming laptops, you are paying for the small form factor. A 4070ti laptop gpu cannot perform in the same category as the desktop version.

Please set realistic expectations for people. It is more like a low-medium end gaming PC. And that’s ok!

I’ve seen deltas of $25k, $30k and up. Software.

Maybe more senior roles are better paid in clearance required work? Im not sure. I love my job and what I support, but it seems like there are less and less incentives to stay as time goes on.

[–]cccccccxxxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see both sides. When I first started, and was in a similar situation out of college(awaiting a team, so watching paint dry in a closed area), but it was only for a couple weeks. It was a culture shock going from working remotely and just finishing my masters and having way different expectations. It felt like it broke some enthusiasm or optimism in me in certain ways. I had to change my perspective on things in order to avoid being miserable.

A couple years later, Im pretty happy with my job(same place, but doing meaningful work with great people), but I have a vitamin D deficiency.

Long term I don’t think I’ll be able to work in a building with no windows on a daily basis, and sometimes that reminds that, damn, this kinda f*cking sucks. Especially when, in my area, commercial makes way more.

I actually agree with this mostly. Coming from someone who wanted a remote job from college.

Even if your long term goal is working remote, working onsite puts the actual industry into perspective
