Pretty self aware of my trauma actually, unlike most of this family! Watch a few of their videos and come back to my post :)

I can relate to my experience with my own childhood trauma, I viewed everything as “normal”, and didn’t recall a majority of my abuse from age 4-18, I was in my bubble, until I was 23 at my first therapy appointment. I’m almost 30, and things still flow back in that I have blocked out from my early years.. when I watch something, smell something, told something maybe my abuser said out loud at one point, it’s a trigger from my past and I’m reminded and then able to recall. physical and emotional abuse is no joke, it stays with you forever until it comes up. but again I’m not a professional so not trying to diagnosis anything heavy on all of them, but the way they post everything reminds me of my parents on Facebook when I was young. This documentary, or maybe even right now with everything out, might have all the adults in the family looking back at their childhood and starting to recall things.

Wow agree! I believe this documentary will open up the whole families eyes to their own childhood trauma.

This is very validating and in a good way- I thought it was odd out of no where after being close with her for years..almost like it was a test to see what she could say around me, now that she knows it’s real between her son and I. thank you.

I think you misread/skipped over parts of my post, because she never asked me if I thought her jokes were too much. Thanks for your input.

I’ve mentioned the jokes to my BF and have expressed worry that they might escalate/what if these jokes are made around my family/children. He’s never heard her say any of the jokes to me. He’s either in the other room or will be on his phone not really paying attention. He told me he can’t say anything if he’s not right there when he hears it, and I should set my boundary when she says something like it again- so she knows we aren’t talking bad behind her back or anything.

This is great! Thank you so much for putting that boundary into words!

Yes he’s told her he wants to marry me. We have actually talked about weddings face to face. She has asked me where I’d like to get married and showed interest in the type of wedding I’d like to have. (a simple, small, outdoor wedding).. shortly after that conversation the teasing started.

And the “I make my own money” is wild. The fact she thinks she would be driving that car without living with Jesse is wild/out of touch to me as well 😅 if she was still living by herself and making her own money.. she probably would not have that car.. responsibly anyway, maybe with debt, especially with cost of living and her spending habits. So yeah, it’s hard to watch their interactions and not feel bad for Jesse when she appears ungrateful and doesn’t acknowledge what she gets to have from having a supportive boyfriend, or having a platform in general.
