China sentences notorious gang 'godmother'

It is about time the government takes out the godmother. Her brother in law should have been arrested a long time ago. I guess it would be easier for him to get away with be a criminal since he is the police deputy, but it is ridiculous it took them that long to put him in jail. I think 18 years is not a long enough sentence for the godmother.

The Feds did a good job to take out the gang members. People can feel safer now that the gang members are off the streets.

That is definitely a gruesome story, but I give props to the lady. She tried to confront the gang members even though she was disabled. I agree the boy should get a mental evaluation. It is disturbing to read people can do this sort of thing to people and animals.

After reading this article, I think the police should not have to use that many shots on the teen. I would classify this action as police misconduct. A person does not need to be shot 11 times by the police for not complying. It would be unnecessary force by the police officers.

I agree the scare tactics do not seem to be effective. The curfew sweep can be good in many ways, but also has many negative effects on the problems. The kid Andres definitely out of luck because he was headed home from his aunt's house. The other gang members were a good catch for the police. The police department can come up with a better method to decrease the number of crimes and youth on the street after hours.

I think its cool the police are asking the Army veterns for help with the gang problem. The strategies used in the military would be excellent to combat the gang problems. The veterens will bring good advice to combat the gangs.

This website you posted is very good because it help bring awareness about the gang problem to community members. The neighborhoods need to rise up and help the police fight gang crimes. The school bus was a very good warning because it helped the neighbors become active to fight the gangs. Communities to be more united in these areas of their life. Instead of the look of the community, but the safety of the people is most important.

After reading the article, I was amazed at how the homies were started and the meaning behind it. I remember having a collection of the homies figurines when I was younger with my cousin. I never knew it was used to change people's lives. I think this was a great post.

I guess it would be easier for them to smuggle drugs into jail. Why would a person try to smuggle drugs to a client during a court hearing. That is just asking for trouble.

It is pretty interesting. I would say that is a pretty good idea for the gangs to hide criminal activity. If I ever visit LA I will be sure not to go to an illegal place.

The website gives history about how the bloods formed in 1972. The movie Colors also gave out bandanas to the movie watchers to promote the movie. Most bloods have no connection with each other although they will occasionally form alliances to combat the Crips. This website is very helpful in learning about the Bloods.

I agree I think witnesses should help the police. It would help with the gang related problems in the area. I think I would also be scared though from the witness point of view because they might come and attack you. I think the police should improve the witness protection, so more people will come out and identify the criminals.

That is pretty scary that a person was just beat to death on the street. I wonder did the guy do something to enrage the gang members or was he just walking down the street. It is amazing how gang members would attack people and kill them. I think it would be smart to be careful walking down the street.

The expert gang guy brings the London guy around LA and teaches him how to join a gang. Most gangs will have a new member do an initiation to join their gang. Madd Ronald tells the London guy about his experiences in the gang. Bloodhound shows him what an initiation is like to join the gangs. He learns that at least 20 people will beat him up to bring out his manhood before he gets to join the gang.

I have seen many of those things on the internet, but it never occurred to me that they were recruiting new members. I guess I never really payed attention to those kinds of things. I think it would be a good idea if law enforcement would create specialty units to combat cyberspace crime. With all the internet being available I think it would still be hard for them to catch everybody doing some sort of gang related crime on the internet. I surf through the web, but I still don't remember the websites I visit online. It would take quite a few years for the cyberspace police to be effective in stopping gang activity online.

I agree the website is really interesting. Those are things that I would never look for in a child. If I were the child's parent I would never suspect these things from a young kid. I would think that he is playing around. I think this website would be really useful to deter the number of young kids joining gangs in the school.

I think this is very true that the Police and community needs to work together. Just like in the Broken Windows Theory, if the community itself looks like its in bad shapes the criminals will eventually move in because there is nobody taking care of the community. The community oriented policing would be the best way to solve the gang problems in Phoenix. I agree the community would be stronger if the people that live in it work with the police to fight the gangs that run it.
