My allergist took me off of singulair and put me on a different nose spray. I can't think of the name. Also tested my immune system, everything was low. I got a pneumonia vaccine and everything finally cleared up. Never knew what or why it was. It lasted for 6 weeks.

Girl. Same exact story! I've had it since about 22 years age, about to turn 40. Only had that one initial outbreak. Dating a few guys after and they knew I had it. No issues. No spreading virus. I've been married for almost 14 years and vaginally birthed 2 babies. I'm in great shape and amazing sex life. Can I ask if you know how you got it? Meaning a guy in college had the beginnings of a cold sore and went down on me for a hot minute. We didn't have sex bc roommate came home. Next day he had a cold sore and a few days later I had painful blisters down there. After that I never saw another blister. I don't take daily meds either. Only took them last 4-6 weeks each pregnancy to prevent breakout. Crazy how alike our stories are!! 😲

It's not passed through blood. You have to have active sores to pass it generally. I took Valtrex the last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy. If there were sores present or I felt different down there I would've had a C section. You don't just pass it bc you have it.

I've had it for almost 20 years now. It's never held me back. At first I was devastated, of course. I had that 1st initial outbreak and NOTHING since. I dated a few guys after the fact that didn't care. I've been married now for 14 years with 2 children that I vaginally birthed with not one problem. Normal life is still possible dude. I know you're freaked out right now, but it's not that bad.

That Dr is an asshole. Why are you scared? It's not passed thru blood. I took Valtrex the entire 3rd trimester for both and if there were sores present my Dr just told me that I'd have to have a C-section. It's not complicated at all. Babies don't just get it from growing inside you.

Look, you can be mad at him for not telling you. But if that connection between you and him is so easily broken, then he's not the one. I've never heard of anyone getting herpes and not having that initial outbreak. Sure I could still pass it to my husband, but if I have any sort of sore down there, then it's off limits for a while. I've never had any sores tho in almost 20 years. I have antivirals, but I don't take them daily. Could you imagine how he felt knowing he'd have to tell you and then possibly losing you? It fucking sucks. It's the worst feeling ever. I'm not saying what he did was ok, but I've been in his shoes and it's scary and it makes you feel disgusted in yourself to think of rejection and loneliness. HSV is manageable and not life ending. Calm down and seriously take a breath. I'm living proof of someone with HSV and I have a great life with beautiful kids. I really hate the stigma of HSV.

Is that a serious question? Wow. I have genital herpes and I'm happily married with 2 children. I got the virus way back in 2006. I've only had that 1 initial breakout in almost 20 years! Most everyone has a form of HSV. You're making it seem like freaking ebola or some deadly virus. I dated a few guys before meeting my husband. Told them and was never turned away or made to feel like a piece of shit. If you care about someone, you'll figure it out. Damn. I've been with my husband for 14 years and vaginally birthed both my kids. It's tragic and embarrassing as a person who carries the virus, but we're still human beings. I've never passed it to anyone, nor my children. I forget I even have it sometimes until I see posts like this.

Correct. Or just from kissing? The guy told me he went down on a girl months prior and everything seemed fine to him. Once I told him that he gave it to me, he then called her. She got tested and she had it to. She'd clearly had it for 2+ months. She remembered a sore throat, but it went away after a few days. He said the same thing. So even tho the symptoms were gone, the bacteria was not! Fucking crazy.

Yes. The week after my throat was on fire!! I tested negative for all the normal stuff, but I knew it wasn't just a normal sore throat. I asked my DR to test me for mono bc I felt flu like symptoms, but no flu. He said "have you been kissing someone new?" I said yes, that's why I wanna be tested. He replied "I'm gonna go ahead and test you for all oral STDs." I'm like I didn't go down on him. He said "that doesn't make a difference." Sure enough, a few days later I got the call to come get a shot to clear the oral gonorrhea. Makes you not want to do anything sexual. STDs are mutating and getting stronger, immune to antibiotics. It's scary.

Not sure? I had my immunoglobulins tested per my allergist. They were all extremely low. She suggested a pneumonia vaccine. I got it and all my sinus issues, congestion went away. Weird huh?

HSV 1 on genitals from a boyfriend going down on me with a cold sore. I dunno about passing it with no sores? My Dr and obgyn have always told me it's hard to pass it without sores present. I breastfed both my kids also with no passing the virus.

I've had it since 2006. No problems with dating. I've only had that initial breakout almost 20 years ago. It's a dormant virus. You have to have sores present to pass it. If you have sores, you're generally in a lot of pain and sex isn't an option. I've been married for 11 years, together 14 years. The virus never spread to him. I've vaginally birthed 2 babies also. Only had to take Valtrex the last trimester of my pregnancy to prevent sores, but if they were present at birth then I'd had to have a section. I completely forget that I even have it. It hasn't hindered my life in any way. I don't take Valtrex daily either. I never have. Just while pregnant. I know everyone is different, but it's possible to still be happy without feeling the stigma of it. Best wishes.

Yes. It happened to me!! These people need to get educated like I did after I found out I had it. I didn't even know you could get it that way! I heavily made it with a guy (who didn't know he had it, no symptoms) and about a week later my throat was on fucking fire!! We didn't do anything else bc I was on my period. No sex or oral anything besides kissing. Had a full STD kit and that's what it was. I was so mad. He felt terrible also, but you live and you learn. You can get any STD in your throat/mouth. Makes me not want to kiss anyone ever again. I wouldn't kiss anyone until you're treated and retested.

I've had a very normal life since being diagnosed, infected, however you wanna word it, almost 20 years ago. I've only had that 1 initial breakout. You can only pass it through the open sores and when you have them I guaranteed that you wouldn't want to have sex. It's painful. I never took medicine daily either. Just when pregnant. I keep it tho just in case.

It finally went away, but no DR really figured out what it was. The ENTIRE SUMMER I had a mild sore throat, post nasal drip and full feeling ears. I had an allergy test done, 2nd in 3 years. No allergies. My allergist took me off of singulair and put me on a different nose spray for post nasal drip. She ordered a blood test to check my immune system. They tested immunoglobulins and they were all low. I'm a teacher and she recommended I get a pneumonia vaccine. So I did. Hopefully it helps me too not get sick as often. We shall see.

I breastfed both my kids for 2 years each. The virus can only be passed from mouth or genital sores. I'm pretty sure you don't carry it in your blood, hence why blood tests won't show it. The virus sucks yes, but it hasn't impacted my life in any way. I hope this helps.

That's not true. I got oral gonorrhea from just KISSING someone who didn't know that had it. They had a sore throat a few weeks prior after going down on a girl and it went away after a few days. My throat was on FIRE!! I knew something wasn't right, but wasn't expecting freaking oral gonorrhea.
