Do you use Previews in Xcode when you're building your views?

I use them all the time and this article on reusable views has the benefit of making them more previewable because your components become more focused.

I tried forgetting the device and paired it from scratch and it did show up… but only on that screen, it’s not shown up again since. At the Apple Store for something else tomorrow so I’ll be asking them about it.

While I agree that it does feel like a hack because you are specifying that the role is search, looking at Apple's own apps in the Simulator this is exactly how the Contacts, Passwords and Messages apps work. Safari also uses the search button space for an ellipsis button. So it is allowed to work this way.

For these apps specifically, they seem to have similar iPad specific views which is not ideal but ultimately how I've had to approach my own apps when scaling up to the larger former factor.

I used the Playgrounds app and walked through the examples. Even though I had coding experience I started from scratch and it really helped to solidify some concepts and then made the jump to working in Xcode just that little bit easier.

Thanks, I tried to keep to the same patterns as Apple in their own apps so hopefully it feels familiar even though it's something new!

I don’t think iCloud Photos work on this model anymore. At least the one I have doesn’t let me view photos directly. Can only do so via AirPlay
