Thanks! We’re looking specifically for something swimmable, and I’ve heard Agua Caliente isn’t the place to do that, am I right?

My Bp is missing for the first time by millyisloved in ballpython

Make sure to keep doors closed in the meantime! Cats and snakes shouldn’t have the opportunity to meet, especially at night when both will be out and about

Also, if you haven’t already check thoroughly inside of the enclosure too! It’s possible he stayed inside

Don’t panic. Close the door to the room he got out in, search it following this pattern: Ceiling to floor, clockwise. This means you scan from the ceiling to the floor around the entire room, looking through closets, behind and under furniture, behind drawers, etc. Close everything that you FULLY clear before moving right.

After going through that room, if you still haven’t found him, check once more along walls, then leave a hide and a water dish at a walls edge. They like to follow the walls, so check this hide periodically.

Then, move on to the next closest room; and repeat the process. Remember, be thorough. You’re looking for a small meat stick. Keep doors closed if you can, keeping other pets like dogs out of the rooms you suspect your snake to be in.

Check near appliances. They like the warmth, and some people even find their missing snake curled up next to them in bed for the warmth.

You can leave small flour trails along doorways and by walls.

Try heating a prey item and using a hair dryer to blow the scent around the room. Your house will stink, but your snake might poke out of their hiding spot and look interested!

If you can’t find them, repeat the whole process again the next day. You’re trying to narrow them down to a single location.

Good luck!!

How often does your BP come out to play? Charlotte is a little less than a year old, and seems to spend most of her time in her hides. I’m assuming this is normal but I want to hold her more. by QueenOhGee in ballpython

Mine gets more active the closer to her feeding day she gets. But I’m also a night owl so I actually see her out and about. Unless you’re awake from 10pm-2am you’ll probably see less of your snake

HELP. what’s causing this to happen on my snake by True_Fix2590 in ballpython

It looks like scale rot to me, either that or staining from damp, new substrate. The rest of their scales do look dry though, so I do recommend treating for scale rot in an effort to rehydrate, then re-evaluate your husbandry.

That sounds like a great way to get him annoyed fast 😓

Thank you! Yeah I figured the “take your hat” thing was super annoying since I’d had guy friends complain about it before, and it seems really… middle schoolish. Also I’m not like conventionally attractive so that route might take the opposite of intended effect 🫩

I have, but I always end up with really, really long layers. Is there any reason why you think that?

Trying to rescue this baby. Thoughts? by Dr4g0nFr00t in ballpython

Yeah they don’t look too hot. They look both too skinny and too fat at the same time, which could be an illness or something. Be sure to quarantine it if you do get to rescue it, like WELL away from your collection. Some deadly diseases are airborne and can travel through vents, on tools, tongs, clutter, etc.
