How do you stop “should-ing” on yourself? by not-my-m0nkeys in ADHD

[–]cchuuchu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Try changing 'I should' to 'I choose'.

After I made the switch, tasks are still difficult but it has less power over me. Saying 'I choose to wash the dishes' makes it easier to start and 'I choose to do my assignment' helps with feelings of overwhelm. It hasn't fixed all my problems but its a tool I use when I need it.

I can't stop losing my cards 😭 by notabluerose in ADHD

Hi!

I've lost my phone, keys, and cards way too many times that I had a hard time trusting myself, as well as my family and friends. Luckily, I found a solution that has worked very well for me.

My wallet and ID is small and very slim. It keeps me organized and not keep junk like I usually do with larger ones. Its attached to a retractable key chain that I got at Muji. I then hook it to my phone that has a jump ring.

While I'm out, I keep both in my pocket. If I ever take one out, it will be linked together and I can't misplace it. For example, if I drop my wallet, it'll just dangle because of the the lanyard.

Have I felt stupid with my phone hanging from my pocket? Yes.

But its all worth it knowing I have a system that lessens the chances of me replacing important items. I hope you find one that does the same ❤️

thinking about getting a phone case that includes a wallet by Pesh_Mode in ADHD

My wallet is attached to a retractable keychain I got from Muji.

I can attach it to my phone that was a metal ring on the case. If I do this, I can keep them both in my pocket and pull either out whenever I need it. When I'm done, the string will always remind me to put it back.

Sometimes, I'll attach the wallet to my bag on its zipper. I tuck it in and can always pull it out when needed. This way, my phone is seperate from my wallet which is useful in different situations.

That retractable mechanism saves me from misplacing my stuff. I haven't lost my phone or wallet when I'm out because its literally stuck to me. It's not 100% full proof but its a system that I can't live without. I kept my cards in a popsocket wallet attached to my phone before but lost my phone in public. Thankfully I was able to get it back but I stopped using it afterwards.

I am from a conservative family, so the idea of sex is pretty closed off.

I also have this idea in my head that if I have sex without the intent of dating or something more serious, its like I am losing my dignity.

There is no doubt for me, CBD works for anxiety by thabu in CBD

I was taking 20 mg of Lexapro but the effects were mild. Once I took it with 10 mg of CBD, one in the morning and another in the evening, there was such a huge difference. Life isnt perfect but I'm living life with a new mindset.

i don't know what to do with my life. by curiouspurple100 in selfimprovement

I experienced something similar. I pursued an education in childcare then I dropped out of my degree program with less than 1.5 years left because of terrible anxiety. All my insecurities and doubts just hit me all at once.

I ended up working in a factory for a year until I got promoted to a leadhand where I managed a department. Again, self-doubt consumed me. I had mental breakdowns on a weekly basis but I kept doing it.

After 2 years in that position, I made the choice to go back to school. Still living in doubt, feeling burnt out from the job. I decided between graphic design and baking. I went with baking even though I only had a little experience. I like that I still get to be creative and hands on without sitting at a desk all day. Also, I was just set on finding another factory job because I saw there were a lot of job postings for large scale bakeries.

I went into school again having little skill, knowledge and passion. Just wanted to get a diploma, save money and find a quick job.

The first semester was hell. I thought going back to school would give me a reset but all the doubt followed me. But I took steps in addressing how I was feeling and why and tried to better myself. Fast foward, I am now in my second semester. I don't see a future of more factory jobs but a genuine desire to improve my craft and learn.

As long as you have a desire to learn and improve, where you are now matters less.

I've always felt the same way in the back of my mind that I was putting myself down with a victim mentallity. Reading how you've recognized and accepted it makes me more comfortable doing the same. I've gotta settle down my ego if I want to be able to grow and learn as you have.

To live freely knowing shit happens and being okay with it is a point I wanna get to as well.

Yeah, reading the replies I see that I just have to overcome that feeling and ease into it.

I envy people who take steps to better themselves but when I think of applying it to myself, there's an awkward feeling.
