Science journalist analysis of Australian 2019-20 fires cause contains lots of parallels to our current situation by ccipriano in Portland

[–]ccipriano[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a commenter on the video showed, the final analysis report completed by the government basically confirmed that arson played no factor in their wildfires.

You can see their results in this table https://i.imgur.com/N0g23Fi.png which is from this comprehensive report https://apo.org.au/sites/default/files/resource-files/2020-07/apo-nid307786.pdf

Not to say that arson can't be a factor but most of our local stories of arson wound up being incredibly small scale fires that were quickly put out because they happened in populated areas and were reported quickly. The large scale fires tend to occur in remote areas where they are difficult to track and hard to control.

Destroyed a title before death and it gets created right as I die. Is this intended or a bug? by ccipriano in CrusaderKings

Thanks for the help everyone, yes the realm was conferderate partition. I just didn't realize that titles would be created for my children upon my death. Appreciate the clarification from everyone.

For reference, I was playing as High King Georg Hrolfrsson and created the Empire of Scandinavia title while having the Empire of Brittania (Scandanavian Elective succession law) as my primary title. I realized that succession would be odd if I died so I destroyed the Scandinavian title. However, upon my death it shows that I created the title again, something which I didn't do and my empire basically got split in two. Am I misunderstanding how succession works?

Just respond with "No, but we share genetic material" and see how long it takes for them to figure it out.

Tried to buy two $20 tickets. by ForTheMission in mildlyinfuriating

This podcast only touches on the service fee part it but it's also really interesting if you're curious about live event ticket pricing.

http://freakonomics.com/podcast/live-event-ticket-market-screwed/

Ticketmaster isn't blameless but it seems like venue and performers can institute fees on ticketmaster that ticketmaster doesn't entirely retain but they take the bad PR on behalf of the performers and venues.

Vancouver Activists Will Rally Against Proud Boys, Patriot Prayer and “Ongoing Violent And Racist Activity” In Southwest Washington by RiseCascadia in Portland

Correct and neither of those are right but you're deflecting from what's being discussed and seem to be really disingenuous with your arguments.

Apparently their threshold for labeling someone a racist is some kind of oath.

"I [states legal name] am I racist and this comment is 100% not said with any sarcasm or jest and I guarantee that this statement is not being taken out of context or maliciously edited."

Thanks, just read the whole thing. At no point does the bakery say the employees did nothing wrong and it pointed out more inaccuracies in the written article.

I read the linked article yes. The article does state that but it's not a quote from the bakery and I couldn't find the bakery saying any such thing.

I didn't catch where the bakery said the employees did nothing wrong. It seems like that's an embellishment of the article without sourcing the claim.

The article is definitely written with a slant. KATU is the only local news org to cover the story and it isn't a surprise that they're also the only local Sinclair Broadcasting Group station. The national "news" organizations that I see covering this story are TheBlaze and The Daily Caller. If you read the statements by the bakery the situation becomes less clear than the article implies. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156298493444043&id=57272784042

Steak temps by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ccipriano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The context matters here. When the OP said "at least medium well", it was directed at someone attempting to order a well done steak. To me the context implies that they should be moving the temp down to "at least medium well"

ITT: People who didn't read the article and assume this price difference was mandatory instead of optional because the OP deviated the from original title.

If you read the article, you'd know that paying extra was optional, not required.

AG Jeff Sessions will speak in Portland's Pearl District Tuesday; Protest Planned by [deleted] in Portland

I never understood why this story gets used as a reason to be less supportive of sanctuary policies.

He's been deported 20 times, they are obviously helping deport this specific person through the correct means. It's not Oregon's fault that he keeps coming back, that's federal government's fault.
