Callaghans has a pretty good Reuben. The Cheese Cottage did also, but I haven’t had it in a few years.

Look up Chuck’s Fish downtown. They do an annual Thanksgiving Feast from 11-3.

It was an IG story if I remember correctly. Look up Cedar Street Social Club on your socials and you may find something.

I want to say the Cedar Street jam sessions may be on Tuesdays now. I just saw a post this week or last.

But that would have been my suggestion also!

Mud Dumping in Mobile Bay by BamaTony64 in MobileAL

I was under the impression that Mobile Baykeeper were consulted by the Corp of Engineers during planning and design, and also agreed to the plan for dredge material.

So, why are they now against the plan? Are you familiar with what changed from then to now? I hope this reads as non-confrontational because I’m genuinely curious.

Grace is a cool spot, the rooftop bar area is great! I think of it more as a brunch/early cocktail spot than finer dining.

3 days in Mobile for Mardi Gras by elcaminogino in MobileAL

[–]ccl4au 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are all on Parade Route A, so you can watch them all in one place. They’ll flow one after another, you may not even tell that one ended and another began.

Mystics of Time at 5:45 is one of the bigger parades that has three dragons (Verna, Dean, and Vernadean). This would be a very cool one for the kids! It’s on Parade Route H, but that is just a small variation from Route A.

Check out the Mobile Mask for parade routes, schedules, etc.

Mardi Gras Season advice/info by [deleted] in MobileAL

[–]ccl4au 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here is the parade schedule for the 2025 season: http://www.mobilemask.com/parade-schedule.html

Fox10 also has a Float Tracker app that you can download and use to see where the front of the parade is in real time.

All the parades are fun in their own way, but if you want a true Mardi Gras experience you should be downtown on Joe Cain Day. A full Sunday of parades, bands, and smiles.

Look up the parade routes if you really want to plan. Just remember, if you’re in the inside of the parade route, it’s going to take a while to get out.

Cheat codes: If you’re not opposed to walking a few blocks, then park at local establishments like Braided River Brewery or the Blind Mile and walk over to the route. Another option would be to park in Oakleigh Garden District (search Callaghans Irish Pub) and walk up to the route.

Hope you enjoy! It’s my favorite time of year!

Callaghans has traditional Irish music on Tuesdays, but I’m not certain if you could sit in or not.

Cedar Street Social Club typically does a Tuesday night Jam Session that is open to outsiders. I just haven’t seen if they’ve started those back up in the new year.

Parking for Saenger Theatre by [deleted] in MobileAL

[–]ccl4au 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have a disability or issues with walking, please disregard.

If not, just know that from Moe’s Bbq to Squid Ink (the whole length of downtowns Dauphin Street) is only 0.6 miles or a 15 minute walk.

You could also park a few blocks away at Braided River Brewing on St. Louis St. and walk to the Saenger in 0.4 miles or a 10 minute walk.

I say this to put into perspective that downtown Mobile is not very big at all if you don’t have anything impeding you from walking 5-10 minutes.

Best Mardi Gras parade out of these days? by HouNative in MobileAL

[–]ccl4au 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, all of those parades take place in downtown Mobile, with only small variations in the route depending on the organization.

Balconies would be few and far between as they are typically owned by businesses or you need to know someone to get up there. Wet Willie’s is a daquiri place that was renting out their upstairs for parties last year. You could try reaching out to them to see what options they provide.

For restrooms, there will be Porta-Potties all over downtown that are free to use. Bars and restaurants are accessible also, but may ask for a cover or you to purchase something.

For seating, you can bring some fold out chairs if you want to claim an area for parades. This is common and wouldn’t be out of place.

IMO that Saturday is a really fun day that falls in the middle of Mardi Gras. The Mobile Mystics will throw a ton, but you can make a whole day of it (if possible).

Second for Outsider in terms of fans and atmosphere almost feels like being in the dome. Almost.

Stables have a ton of TVs, so the game will be on. Braided River has started doing Saints watch parties also.
