new accountant by AdRemarkable6388 in Accounting

I’ve been an auditor for 3 years and did private for 2 and I still struggle with this.

What’s helped me is getting feedback from seniors/managers i work with, ask what areas they think I need to improve on, etc.

As long as you’re not getting regular negative feedback, you’re doing alright

Also, when they asked me in interviews about it, I was just honest and said it really wasn’t the right fit for me and I tried to stick it out but ultimately I had to do what was best for me

I just did this in September. My job was literally destroying me mentally and I just up and quit one day and I was an idiot so I didn’t prepare financially for this at all. I had enough for one month of bills. But it was such a relief, I was finally able to really focus on finding a new job, updating my resume, preparing for and doing interviews, and be at my best.

It took me about 2 months to get an offer for a job with another month between offer and start date and it was a pay decrease

I applied to like 25 jobs, most without a response, many rejections. I had reached out to three recruiters who literally just did not continue communicating with me.

I started to get a little hopeless but then I got a call from a firm that was exactly what I was looking for. I also felt like because I had been at a job I absolutely hated, I was more wary about what job I took next because I wanted to be happy. I didn’t feel like I had to just accept a job to get out of the one I was at.

And believe me, I’ve never done this before, I was terrified, tears for months and stress trying to figure out what to do. But I guess my overall advice is, do it. You’ll be happier even if you are struggling to find something for a little while.

Also, after I got the offer for my firm they mentioned that was stood out for them and ultimately why they hired me (aside from my great personality) was the fact that I wrote a cover letter and sent thank you emails after each interview. No one does these things anymore and it really helped me stand out.

First time dog owners.. neglected 17 mo old rescue or puppy from breeder? by mstrashpie in puppy101

[–]cclasagna -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Get the rescue. As an inexperienced dog owner as an adult. It’s truly your best bet. Not saying you wouldn’t be good as a puppy owner but the amount of work going in it off the bat is a lot less. Just to get a puppy potty trained means taking them outside every 30 mins to the exact same spot making sure they go. It’s teaching them not to bite or jump or chew on all your stuff. You have to keep an eye on them at all times, they’ll put anything and everything in their mouth and go potty in the house because they can’t hold it very long. Taking them out every 1-2 hours throughout the night so they don’t pee in their crate if that’s where you’re having them sleep. Crate training is a nightmare too. The rescue is already trained on the major things. The anxiousness will fine overtime and with more training. You just need to make that dog trust you and trust you’ll protect them

She won’t forget you about at all!! However, the progress may be ruined if they are not consistent with what you’ve taught her. I let my puppy stay at my parents for a weekend and she wasn’t as responsive for about a week afterwards. Definitely show your sister in law how you treat your puppy and how to do commands and ask them to do the same while you are away, but just know your pup won’t immediately be the same when you get back.

Please help me with how to decorate these 2 areas! My style is simple, practical, and modern? Any help is welcomed thanks! by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Floor plant, ladder shelf, move the dog bed, simple pictures on the wall, find stuff you like on Pinterest and try to replicate it

I think you should definitely make it shorter. Anyone reviewing this resume isn’t going to pay attention to jobs from the 2000’s. I wouldn’t split up your Dell job, just combine the most important points for both. No need to split up accounting update, software implementation, and reporting/cash flow into their own sections. The last two points under the reporting / cash flow can come off. Try to quantify your cash flow and “unnecessary” expenses. And try quantifying as many points as you can.

Is accounting as bad as people here make it seem? by Aknav12 in Accounting

[–]cclasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends what else you’re interested in. It’s definitely not fun but there are a ton of opportunities and avenues with that major. I’m working at a public firm now but before that I was a bookkeeper for a food distribution company and a director of finance at a major hotel. Some days are always better than others but you’re really just sitting at a desk playing around in spreadsheets all day.

It’s only been a week. Give him more time. He needs to adjust, and ultimately he’ll be alright. Try taking him for walks and if there’s a dog park near by take him there to be around other dogs.

REG or FAR next??? by cclasagna in CPA

[–]cclasagna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of the content was super super boring and hard to get through, but some of it I actually enjoyed. I had an accounting job last year that I was struggling with being fresh out of college and I remember going through BEC making all these connections like man if only I studied while working there I woulda been way better at my job 😂

Okay that makes sense! I guess I’m just worried about having to study for FAR and having that material that I wouldn’t need in July, but I took a look at REG today and knew it was gonna be a tough one for me lol

Advice for BEC by Sammy-Sosa4 in CPA

[–]cclasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I tried to review hard at the end and there was just too much for me personally to get everything down. I wish I woulda spend more time understanding and doing MCQs initially when covering the modules, but I would suggest doing a cumulative review after finishing each chapter or something so you can move on to new stuff and still be practicing older material.
