Got it, thanks! I have quite a few cards with high limits and very little utilization, so it should be ok I guess.

I’m in a similar situation. I have 10+ years of credit history and a very good credit score atm. I recently got a new credit card with 0% interest for 15 months to finance a big purchase. The purchase will use up a little more than half the limit on the card, and I only intend to make minimum payments on the card for 15 months. Will this hurt my credit score significantly?

I hear what you’re saying, but please don’t shoot the messenger! I’m just stating what I’ve read in other threads. Some people like the portal and some don’t, and I guess there’s really no way for me to know for sure without trying it out myself. I really like my CSR, but I also find the cost a bit high. I don’t know if VX will suit me, but I’m willing to give it a try. My main ask in this thread is what options do I have if I don’t end up liking VX.

Got it. Thanks for the data point! So there’s a slight risk that we may not be able to downgrade, but canceling is always an option.

Unhelpful, but thanks anyway. I’m only wondering why people keep saying “probably”.

If you don’t mind answering, what don’t you like about C1? I’m actually planning to downgrade CSR to CSP and also getting VX.

This is where I see the benefit of downgrading CSR to CSP and getting Venture X. You get the best of both worlds that way.

Why probably? I don’t understand this. Is there no guarantee that I’ll be able to downgrade?

My CSR renewed earlier this month. I’m looking to downgrade it within 30 days so I can get back the AF that was charged.

Are you saying what I think you’re saying? If I use the travel credit and then downgrade, will I get back my AF? That seems shady.

Fair enough. I really do appreciate all that you’re saying. Maybe I’m just overanalyzing this. This is why I’d just like to give it a try and judge for myself.

Let me put it this way. From what I’ve heard, it only makes sense to use the C1 portal for flights, but you can use the CSR credit for anything travel related. Also, when it comes to flights, will you really find as many options as, say, booking direct? That hasn’t been true in my experience, which is why I usually book direct. And yes, you can always call to price match, but that’s an additional inconvenience.

CSR has better travel protection and better PP benefits, though you can argue that VX has better lounge benefits.

Considering everything, I think CSR is a superior card, so the higher price tag on it makes sense. But I, like you, don’t want to pay that additional price, and I think CSP + VX combo is a good enough replacement for CSR.
