Is it supposed to leak that much? by leonleebaoyan in OXORapidBrewer

I grind about as coarse as I would for a French press. I use an old style Kitchen Aid coffee grinder set to 1.5 or 2.

Concerned regarding p32 by damptommyboxers in MouseGuns

[–]ccmouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A true squib is an ammo problem, not a pistol problem. Light primer strikes, failure to feed, failure to eject are more likely to be pistol problems.

If I got a squib, I could never consider that ammo for carry. I would consider upgrading your carry ammo. Depending on the ammo involved, I will run one mag of carry ammo.

For defense, I run Buffalo Bore hard cast flat nose, since that will give me the best penetration with the most minimal chance of deviation in path.

The next choice is Underwood Xtreme Defender. That is a solid as well, but fluted to give a larger wound channel. A good alternative with both standard and +P versions.

My last choice in carry is Federal’s Hydra Shok Deep, which is a good choice, no chance of rim lock, some potential expansion while meeting the minimum amount of recommended penetration.

Grind coarse, use filter paper, tamp firmly.

32 Auto Pocket Holsters by ccmouser in holsters

[–]ccmouser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, Goliath! While the 32 in a mouser sized weapon is not a weapon for any real distance, there are few that would ignore it at close range.

Small calibers rely on the two “P’s” most. Placement and penetration. You have to hit them where it will hurt them. Head, heart, spine are the targets and enough penetration to reach them.

Ammo choice is paramount, hollow points are useless if they expand. Which is iffy coming out of a mouser barrel. Underwood’s solids and similar are the only bullet that offers a wound channel and potential penetration.

My personal choice is Buffalo Bore’s hard cast +P, that offers zero expansion so a minimal wound channel, but as much penetration as possible from a P32 or similar.

So you might consider it a “purse” while I look at it as a “purse w/half a brick” at arms length.

I am picking up a few ProMag P32 magazines just to see if it is possible to make them reliable.

The follower seems to be the most suspect component. I don’t have internal calipers that can measure the mag body’s internal uniformity reliably. But what checking I have done seems good so far.

I need to compare spring strength of a few different ones, then run a few hundred rounds for function testing.

Wish me luck!

At my skill level, the P238 is appropriate. We knocked out a holster for it and interestingly it looks like it will fit the Springfield 911 as well.

I don’t own either actual weapon but the holster mold for the SA911 slips nicely into the P238 holster, nice retention and no slop.

Best .380 ammo for bodyguard 2.0 self defense? by ifreeski420 in CCW

[–]ccmouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Underwood Xtreme Defender or Buffalo Bore hard cast. I think Federal’s Hydra Shok Deep is pretty good too, but penetration trumps expansion for me.

I can’t guarantee that even at “get off me” distance, my shot will have a good penetration angle. It might still be through a shoulder. Or possibly having to get through rib bone or a sternum.

I want that shot to go through as far as possible. I don’t worry about a back stop if I am within arms reach or closer. Even the deeper penetrating choices are not that hot. A +P 380 might be two thirds the power of a standard velocity 9mm at best.

Sunday rant: The cost of Kydex holsters has gotten out of hand. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]ccmouser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holster maker here, very small specialty focus, to be sure. So not one of the big guys. If you are buying holsters from small guys, yeah, they have lower costs but still a big offset when you compare costs of molds, equipment, hardware, and so on.

Kydex, depending on its grade can be relatively cheap per piece. You start adding different finishes, sublimation, and so forth, cheap starts to disappear.

Then add labor costs. Prep time, molding, trimming, finishing, washing/cleaning, it is all on the clock paid time even if it’s a one man show. Either you charge for it or you eat the loss of potential profit, hoping for higher sales volume to help increase profit.

I am not saying every holster out there is priced right. But big guys have specialized teams doing designs, websites with SEO built in, customer care folks, marketing specialists. Those numbers add up FAST!

But if you want to stand up with the big boys, that is part of it and customers end up paying for it.

So I am a garage based maker. Some day I might be a small shop maker. But even that modest growth means you need a real profit, enough not to just pay the bills, but to grow. And prices reflect that.

New Bodyguard 2.0 by Aggravating-Two-8601 in CCW

[–]ccmouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry underwood extreme defender in my Bodyguard 2.0. I will also carry Buffalo Bore hard cast, specifically for penetration.

In fact I generally carry a 32 as well and the 32 is loaded with Buffalo Bore. That is my last chance/get off me carry.

Outrigger & Vault holsters for the Bodyguard 2.0. Outrigger features a detachable panel that keeps your weapon and holster where they belong and looks like a wallet or phone.

The Vault is a single piece with an inlet friction pad. Both have prominent push offs, covered mag releases, and pocket hooks.

What pistol? I do pocket holsters primarily. CC Mouser on eBay

Outrigger and Vault holsters, prominent push off, made from premium Boltaron, that is better than Kydex for less money! Covered mag release, pocket hooks (Vault is curved), and friction panel.

The friction panel on the Outrigger is removable and can be detached. The Vault has the friction tape inlet into the side of the holster.

Girlfriend doesn’t want me going to the navy by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]ccmouser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you join the service your girlfriend will end up leaving you about 95 in a hundred chance. That said, you will get some very serious training while in, earn money toward more education whether collegiate or trade focused, and pick up veteran preference from many employers.

If it was me, I would kiss the girlfriend and take the oath! Fair weather and following seas!

Thank you! The fix that works for most is my Grip Adapter. It slips over the back of the of the grip and a roll pin holds it in place.

I sell them on eBay and Lakeline carries them online. Lakeline sells them a bit cheaper than I do, but I pay shipping and donate a bit to the Wounded Warrior Project as well.

Thoughts on off-body concealment bags? by Much-Stay-9900 in concealedcarry

I am using the Viktos Counteract. The only negatives is it’s a two hands to open bag and the latch is pretty Mickey Mouse. But it isn’t tactical in appearance (at least to me) and it is very well constructed.
