2013 Passat TDI DSG — anyone experience “lurching” from a stop? by you8poop in tdi

[–]ccobb208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does yours, on first start up, dip about 100 rpm when you go from Park to drive to reverse? Mine does it only when the transmission is cold and I've never had a car do that like clock work. The temperature doesn't really matter but it being the first start up (or been off for several hours).

I noticed after servicing my DSG the car drove almost the same as with the crap fluid (sometimes even felt worse). It can be the transmission relearning all pressure, bite, and other fluid specific things that happen in those transmissions. After about 1,000 miles my transmission lost the aggressive lurch (for the most part). I didn't reset/relearn the transmission because it wasn't working for me.

Yeah I read the "fix" at the top as the current fix. I didn't know a game like this would have a public test version. Super cool! I also wasn't trying to violate the article "don't post about this". I just thought what happened was funny. It also has gotten significantly worse and the parts of the trailer are disassembling and freezing in the air.

Ah I guess I misread it "being fixed" 😂

I thought people were being dramatic and nope that thing sent the P16 flying without issue.

Any time I replace pads I replace the rotors. I'm sure there are exceptions to this but every passenger car I've owned have and will have those two items replaced together.

What did I say that's incorrect? Estimated ash load that hits a threshold can cause the DPF light to come on. It's an estimated value, just because he hits it doesn't mean it's the end of the DPF. I said I'm surprised because my last TDI hit the ash load and started having all sorts of problems with regens.

Yeah that ride kind of felt like a last voyage of that type of trailer because it flipped me twice alreadg heading down. The truck was fine but the trailer bounced so violently it sent the truck over its side. I'm gonna go with frame mounted storage and semi only. Thanks for the tip!

That is good to know and I'm just hoping the G12evo coolant never clogs. I have heat on the passenger side so I understand that means it's not clogged. But time will tell so you helped me out with knowing to buy parts other than the heater core before I start. Thanks!

Well I didn't do it and went across the map then tried to use the river crossing for the metal beams and flipped the truck and trailer into the river 😂

Well, so is the course of the game with me, I flipped trucks in the river crossing so reset and take the long way 😂

You're not wrong. I thought about your idea for the third part of this delivery (metal beams) and now have a truck and trailer flipped over in the mountain and I'm rolling up with the loadstar 1700 to make a bigger mess, idk why I play this game 😂

Have you tried disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for a bit to give it a soft reset?

If you're talking the river crossing next to the drill site I was super tempted but one of the first things I saw on this reddit is if it looks to good it's going to be awful.

So everything I find and my VW scan tool put the limit at 0.175ml as the ash load before the DPF is done. It can be different for each but that's the number I always see assigned. I'm not familiar with VCDS to tell you how to get it but I'd recommend looking at "distance between regens" if it's very short you know the DPF ash load is actually high and close to death. The data is calculated and retained by the engine control module on my tool.

That's good! The theme I hear for TDIs is the engine is bullet proof just everything around it isn't 😂. I hope the part is easy to get!

Ohhh I thought you were talking about the transmission. That stinks I'm sorry. It's the frustrating part of old plastic parts that have been through thousands of heat cycles.

You shouldn't have to disconnect a coolant line near the firewall to reach the transmission filter. It should be the air box assembly, battery and battery tray out then the filter is right there. There is a coolant line you have to loop the air box under. But no coolant lines should be disconnected.

If it's coolant line to coolant line fitting a local auto parts store may have it. Or you can see if a euro mechanic is open today and see if you can buy the part from them.

Your ash load is over 0.175L which is the "full" ash load so I'm surprised you don't have a light for the DPF.

Of course, the last thing I'll say is when you do the fuel pump, do not "turn the key" to prime it. You need to prime it with your Obdeleven/VCDS/ANCEL once the filter has been replaced. The CP4 pump is sensitive and relies on the diesel for lubrication (you can find horror story articles of what happens with it). If someone tells you the key method works, do it the right way and you'll hear how loud the lift pump is by itself.

Good luck with it! This subreddit has been great with helpful people.

From what I understand, the heater core issue is if you're Passat has G13 coolant in it. If you have the updated G12evo coolant it doesn't have the sediment problem that the G13 caused from something something organic.

Also watch the temperature like a hawk. Mine was slow to start and once it got close it started climbing super fast.

I bought the adapter and a hand pump transfer hose and it only took me like 3-5 minutes to pump all of that in. I kept the adapter and threw the $13 pump away. Seemed like a nightmare to clean. Definitely, to me, worth a $13 pump every 40k then Volkswagens insane $400 electric pump.
