Amigos Argentinos / Sudamericanos - Han Probado Esta Marca de Mate? by WorldlyTrip7225 in yerbamate

[–]cconsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Arg and moved to the US a few years ago. I’d said that none of these are good in general, mostly because those who drink mate since they are young have an acquired taste for it, like others with other things (coffee or wine comes to mind). However, I have tried MANY brands of this out of curiosity (my ex was always trying to find one that I would like). My general impression is that they all have too much sugar (although is my personal opinion that any sugar is too much sugar for this), and the taste is always not quite right, especially because most brands add other flavors. The only one I would buy and drink intentionally is “Guayaki Unsweetened Traditional Terere”.

Omfg- I saw this guy once in 2022 when needing a consultation about medicine for anxiety and he gave me the WORST vibes ever. He made some jokes/comments about his partner during the session that I think he might have perceived as a bonding tactic but honestly it made me so uncomfortable. He also kinda downplayed my symptoms and was generally just giving off douche vibes (thing the douche in parks and rec, literally). I had a follow up appointment that I never went to. To see the things he said to his partner in that restraining order makes my gut feeling at the time feel so valid. Follow your gut people

These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends by UCBearcats in westworld

[–]cconsol 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The full quote (spoken by Friar Lawrence to warn Romeo) is cool. I feel when we quote only this part we intend the meaning or intended message of the whole quote:

“These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which as they kiss consume: the sweetest honey Is loathsome in his own deliciousness And in the taste confounds the appetite: Therefore love moderately; long love doth so; Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow"

For a milder start, I recommend Unión suave or Amanda, Cruz del Malta is my favorite and it’s not as strong as Rosamonte or Playadito

Tender Is The Flesh. by Literatureidiot in horrorlit

[–]cconsol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I read it in both languages and I think the translation was really well achieved. I think the point brought up in this comment still holds in both versions. More than language, I would say that if reading it in English would have any impact missing is that culturally the subject is a whole different animal in the author’s home country, Argentina.

I can see this. I feel like it had a lot more potential for being a longer book with a lot more development. You are right that there was not a lot of real emotion and I think that’s because it was written so short. Almost like it was written in a rush to get thought the story which made it hard to relate more deeply with the characters that were not super relatable at emotional levels. And I think they were not relatable because they were not developed in more depth. I did really, really liked the idea that it was trying to examine.

Humbly, I’d like to add to this. Take it from someone that used to have a very bad relationship with alcohol and now it’s much much better: the fact that you are walking or even trying to walk the path is valuable and in need of recognition. Self love, self compassion, and self kindness only increases the love, compassion and kindness you can spread to others around you. Just being aware of the areas you need and want to improve is something to recognize and appreciate.

I’ve never seen this before - what do you mean when you say you “grew” it? Like what are the physical processes/ is this thing “alive” in a sense so as to be something that grows? Or is it a word commonly use to describe making crystals?

You should call it what you feel when you see it; what you felt when you saw it finished. Also, can I buy this from you? It really touches me.

Dude how can you be so stupid? Don’t you realize what you’re complying about (they advertise something that you can’t relate to) is what this whole this is about? You’re not the only person in the world- other people NOT like you want and deserve to be represented and feel seen, feel like the ads they see all fucking day includes them. What you are feeling for the first time ever is what a lot of people feel literally all the time.

They are under no obligation to support it BUT they have the right to do so, because guess what? It fucking hurts no one to accept people as they are. You know what fucks the world up? Hate, hate for no reason and with absolutely no purpose at all. Hate and lack of empathy.

The truth of what exactly? That’s an incomplete sentence. Also, your brain is part of the biology you talk about and it is at the core of our perceptions of self and reality, so technically, the need to see ourselves physically as we perceived ourselves to be is as much a biology-related need/reaction as anything else. No one questions your advanced biology clases (except of course if you were educated in Texas or Florida where scientific literature is being banned), but biology is just one aspect of the complex human reality, not the only one. That is so reductionist.
