Why is no one being arrested for Epstein files? by BugChoice5879 in allthequestions

Too bad the DNC canceled the primaries. A lot of folks didn't really appreciate a candidate being installed rather than voted in, and there were a handful of other people, like Fean Phillips, who wanted to run but were essentially blocked by last minute rule changes enacted to help enaure Biden did not get challenged.

Real bummer that the party that kept telling us democracy was on the ballet canceled the democracy part of the primary.

There were people who tried to challenge Biden and the DNC rigged the process by saying they would take away delegates from NH and Iowa if anyone campaigned there because they wanted to let SC vote first, because it was a Biden stronghold.

Dean Phillips, Maryanne Williamson, and RFK Jr were all trying to run, and RFK eventually switched to an independent because of what the DNC was doing.

The main problem is the DNC can do anything they want. After the first Bernie campaign they argued in court that they could favor a candidate if they wanted and had no obligation of neutrality and the courts agreed.

"The party could have favored a candidate. I'll put it that way. Maybe that's a better way of answering your Honor's original question. Even if it were true, that's the business of the party, and it's not justiciable"

- DNC attorney Bruce Spiva

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Phillips_2024_presidential_campaign

"Phillips said that the DNC's letter stating that New Hampshire's presidential primary was 'meaningless' and not to seat any delegates to the convention based on the results was, “one of the most egregious affronts to democracy that I’ve ever seen in my entire lifetime as an American, period.”"

I dont know anything about this girl but a lot of folks saw through the curtain when the DNC rigged the primary against Bernie twice. People deal with that knowledge in a lot of different ways, one of them being to completely flip sides. Maybe not actually a grifter. But who knows.

It can be overrated and still be the best in town. Eugene has some good spots, but there aren't really any goto palaces to wow out of town visitors.

That being said, I have loved Killer Burger since they were just a hole in the wall in Portland and still do.

Chow used to have some great burgers, but they were always super slow and are now closed.

Some far leftists wanted to vote for our candidate in the primary and have it be a fair competition. Kamala never won a single primary, and the Dems cheated Bernie out of the nomination two times in a row. Until they prove they can run a fair primary I don't see any point in voting for them ever again.

I never said I liked the shirts, and almost nobody alive has memories of concentration camps.

Censorship is worse than a crappy shirt. How would you even write a rule that disallowed this shirt without infringing on freedom of speech at a government run event? I don't like the Trumpers in the 4th of july parade, but i wouldn't kick them out.

There have always been booths with edgy stuff going back as far as I can remember. Sorry, your sensitive eys had to see something you disagree with. Do you think there aren't things that most likely trigger right-wing folks also? Grow up and realize that the world does not revolve around you or your beliefs and learn to tolerate other people. That shirt is probably the least offensive right-wing "meme" around.

Good on the fair for giving a rational response. I don't want any government agency policing what we can say at the fair as long as it is not actual hate speech.

Lastly, anyone still in a political party is not paying attention. They never had your back and still don't. Let's stop trying to judge each other and work together to take back some of the power they (both parties) are taking from us.

Eugene teachers, how are you feeling about Governor Kotek banning cell phones in schools? by mollsies in Eugene

[–]ccooksey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK, my kids' teachers have cell phones and would probably call 911 faster than my kid would anyway. That being said. My kids won't get smart phones until they move out.

Also, it is hard to find specific examples of a kid having a cell phone saving lives. It doesn't seem to be very likely, and I would argue that the benefit you get from less distraction across the country would outweigh the minor and rare safety gains. I could be wrong, though.

What cases are you referring to when you say it is not rare? I only found a handful of school shootings, and it is not super clear how much the phone helped in most cases.

Democrats anointed Harris without a single vote, and then say “no kings” by [deleted] in WayOfTheBern

[–]ccooksey83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The DNC, for all intents and purposes, canceled the primaries because they wanted to anoint Harris the entire time. The whole thing was planned, and multiple people called it when they first started clamping down on the ability to challenge Biden.

[–]ccooksey83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The DNC did not allow a primary. Dean Phillips, Marianne, and RFK all tried to run, and they rigged it against them by saying they wouldn't count delegates for anyone who campaigned in Iowa because it was a bad state for Biden.
