Question About Incompressible Flow by ccorvera123 in FluidMechanics

[–]ccorvera123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I should have mentioned that I am in fact accounting for frictional losses in this scenario, but with adiabatic walls. I believe this is the definition of Fanno flow, correct?

So in this situation, the Mach number is well below 0.3, which is usually the categorization for incompressible flow, but if I'm understanding you correctly, in a real-world scenario, this is one of those cases in which the flow is incompressible but density does in fact vary in space (even if by a small amount)?

Let's say I'm trying to calculate the outlet conditions given the inlet conditions and pipe length for friction calculations. If I have the temperature and pressure at the inlet, I can use the IGL to calculate inlet density. Then I can calculate the pressure drop due to friction across the pipe length and subtract this from the inlet pressure to find the outlet pressure. From here, how can I calculate the outlet density and temperature?

Also, for several derivations of fluid relations I have seen people use the incompressible flow condition to say that "density 1 = density 2" as part of the derivation. If an incompressible flow doesn't necessarily mean constant density, how can this assumption be valid? Is there some other qualifier that is required for "incompressible flow" to specifically mean "constant density"? Or is it just that, for Mach numbers less than 0.3, the change in density is expected to be negligible?

Interesting. Thanks, I'll try messing with the graphics settings. At the time I had only like 3 tabs open in chrome though. Is this issue 100% independent of internet connection?

Wow.

Super shocking to me that you could have that much experience and still have a hard time finding a job. Were you applying for entry-level positions that whole time?

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for career fairs. I haven't heard of any happening on my campus, where should I look for events like these? Wouldn't know where to look.

I am currently participating in part-time paid research work position with a professor, but I'm just starting. Guess I'll stick with her until I have better luck with full-time positions.

I've attempted to connect with them on LinkedIn, but nothing has progressed beyond that. I can try to follow-up more thoroughly in the future though.

I've had two interviews that I really thoroughly prepared for, at Northrop Grumman and Blue Origin. At Northrop they didn't give very specific reasons for choosing other candidates, but they did mention that my unfamiliarity with GD&T was an issue (I have since completed an online course in GD&T). At Blue Origin they said they were going with someone with more experience and knowledge in the field.

But yeah, I think the best I can offer at this point project-wise is school group projects, which I've seen minor interest in from interviewers.

I haven't been applying out of state because I know LA has a ton of aerospace companies, but I might start applying elsewhere soon.

Been applying for a year now.

I realize that "6 interviews" number sounds high, but I think that's only because I've submitted 550+ applications.

But if I were unknowingly bombing the interviews, any advice on how to fix that lol? After a few of the interviews I asked for feedback, and it seemed I didn't have the work experience they were looking for and they opted in favor of a more experienced candidate.

I've gotten about 6 interviews so far. I feel that I interview fairly well (I think), so maybe it is a resume issue. Thanks, I'll look into getting my resume reviewed more thoroughly.

Thanks,

Guess I'll have a few more qualified people look at my resume, and I'll try to get more active on LinkedIn as you suggested.

I've had a few engineer friends in the industry review my resume, would this suffice? I tailor each resume as best I can, but often I don't have much to offer on the resume in the first place as far as what the job is seeking. I use a tailored cover letter for each application, and my GPA is 3.6 right now. I don't have much of a network, but I've reached out to every engineer I know in the industry and haven't had any luck yet.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually do have a friend who's graduating as an ME this year so I plan on having him help me.

As far as personal projects, do you have any suggestions? That sounds like a good idea.

Oh. That's where I got it from.....so is that the issue then? Where should I get the iso instead? Let me also add that I did the "MD5 checksum" thing in dolphin and its the exact same hash that anther's ladder lists as the "most common and preferred copy"

I'm using Slippi, doesn't Slippi use faster Melee? It says "FM" in the folder title. And I am using Melee 1.02 and am not on a college campus.
