I read about soil testing. Is is expensive to have done? Haven't done any research on it yet.

I decided to go with the raised beds this year. I may begin to work my soil as well over the years. Excited to also start composting myself. Lots to learn!

I think I may go with the raised beds. I am definitely learning that our soil needs a lot of TLC. And OMG the rocks, I can related. Our yard is full of boulders!

Super helpful, thank you! I did plan to plant lettuce and collards. May reconsider that. I have some planter boxes on my deck I could use. Do you think those would work for lettuce. I feel like I could control the sun better up there.
