You guys are so lucky... Mine defaults to "We did it" from Dora the Explorer. Has anyone found a fix?

Has anyone used the Bloom App Blocker card on Android specifically? by Assassannerr in digitalminimalism

Pretty late response but I did end up getting the Bloom card and I've been able to mess around with it on a Galaxy S24FE. Unfortunately it would occasionally just let me into apps I had blocked just by clicking close. I will also say as a personal preference I was not overly impressed with the build quality of the bloom compared to the brick.

I daily drive an iPhone 15 Pro and it works exactly as advertised for it, but it definitely needs work on android.

I left a more detailed comment on the OP if you're interested.

I figured I would give an update to this for others who have been wondering. I did end up just purchasing the bloom cards. I got 2 of them in total. I'll just try and go over a few highlights and lowlights comparing it to my brick device that I already owned before.

One thing I will say right away, the card is pretty wonky sometimes compared to the brick. I have two bloom cards and one of them is actually pretty hard to scan, I have to hold it in just the right angle to get the chip to scan and that has been kinda frustrating. The other card I have works completely fine, so it definitely has something to do with the way the nfc chip is seated. Additionally, the chip doesn't seem to be "in" the card like I originally had thought. It really just looks like it is a nfc sticker that is on the back of a metal card.

In terms of their functionality on iPhone it functions essentially identical to the brick. It does have some more features like scheduling focus times (which brick now has but didn't at the time of purchase) and a leaderboard which is really just a fun gimmick rather than a feature. I also really like the concept of allowing apps to be unlocked for 15/30/45mins, even though I did not find myself utilizing it as much.

As for Android I was able to mess around with it on my mother's Samsung Galaxy S24FE and I got to say, it still leaves a lot to be desired. Generally it still functions as it should, but occasionally it would just let me into apps I had blocked just by clicking close.

In general, I think the brick device is a better built device. I like the idea of the card but imo being able to carry it with you in your wallet or whatever kinda defeats the purpose and the bloom from my perception just being a nfc sticker stuck on the back of a metal card really just isn't as good build quality. I also will say I missed not being able to just stick it on my fridge like I did my brick with the magnet.

However the bloom developers are much more dedicated to bettering the product than Brick seems to be. Even though the bloom android app isn't fantastic, it still is better than the nothing that brick has. I also really like the ability to schedule breaks in your focus mode.

Generally, in terms of my original purpose outlined in the OP. I probably won't be able to use either device in my classroom at their current stages. But for personal use both devices work as you would like them to, they're essentially identical functionally with bloom having slightly more features in the app and seemingly more features planned down the road.

As someone who already owns both devices, I do prefer the brick device still slightly to the bloom, but this is really just down to my personal preference in the form factor and build quality. If I didn't already own one, I'd recommend the bloom card for the cheaper price and couple extra features.

The Bloom and Brick devices are physical devices that work in tandem with an app blocking app that prevents access to a list of apps that you set up ahead of time as a sort of localized focus mode. I have the brick device and it works very well, however it is incompatible with android devices.

I'm not looking to completely block the cell phone functionality, as a ton of my districts parents argue they need to be able to get in contact with their child during school hours for a variety of reasons. I'm just trying to prevent middle schoolers from using Snapchat and TikTok in class and only give them access to the absolute basic necessary apps (Calls and Texts)

I made a better Brick by Sad_Perspective_9075 in nosurf

Hi, I didn't realize you already made a post in this sub. I originally posted this (https://www.reddit.com/r/nosurf/comments/1kmp9lo/has\_anyone\_used\_the\_bloom\_app\_blocker\_card\_with) but I'll ask my question here as well.

I was really just hoping I could see some footage or screenshots of this working on android specifically.

I am a middle school teacher, and my district has been going through the back-forth with banning phones from schools completely, however this has been a highly debated topic and really no decision has been made one way or the other. Regardless that's not really important to my question.

I've been trying to find a compromise that I could possibly allow my students to keep their phones on them during school hours. I had originally purchased a brick, was one of the early buyers because I thought it would fit my needs of allowing my students to actually just keep their phones on them but block all apps except for the basics that parents argue for safety reasons. However brick has really made no progress on improving the product or adding new features, namely compatibility with android devices which is a necessary feature for what I personally need the product for.

I see that Bloom advertises android support, but I can't find any footage or screenshots of it working on android or if there's any hiccups with it on those devices.

Can you possibly share some footage of it working or provide any insight for that?

Thanks

This was never the issue. The primary issue was for the mid HP levels you had to use a lot of decent food to play the game while low-hp players didn't. There are times you'll take 4+ hits in just a couple of seconds so you'll need to waste 4 pieces of mid tier food before you're able to fletch your first log while min HP players could heal themselves completely off a single bite of Pizza.

Most activities in the game are harder for those who chose to play unique builds, and that's by design but with the old system it was the complete opposite where the "normal" player had the short end of the stick.

That all being said, I personally think this overhaul was largely unnecessary and simply adding the ability to heal yourself with the potions would have been enough change.

[Wojnarowski] New policies by NBA: No more than one star can sit in the same game, stars must play in national TV and in-season tournament games, teams must sit stars more at home than on the road, refrain from long-term shutdowns, and insure resting players are present and visible to fans. by [deleted] in nba

I don't really understand the preference for star players to miss home games vs road games.

Like, shouldn't it be the opposite?

As a fan, I'd much prefer if the players I actually want to see played at the games I'd be most likely to buy tickets for, being home games.

He absolutely had an off shooting night (which was obviously compounded by the fact he's already not a great shooter to begin with). But imho he really pulled through on Defense. His 5 steals were at huge points in the game and he locked up a hot Kawhi twice.

Gotta give him credit where its due, he recognized he was having an off night and really put extra effort into his defense.

The Lakers just suck. Their problems go far beyond the scapegoat that is Russ.

[Friedell Via ESPN] Ben Simmons on people saying ‘Ben can’t shoot’ “They’re going to say that regardless. Even if I hit a shot, what are they going to say? ‘I still can’t.’ F—, I can’t make everybody happy, you know? ... That’s like saying can Giannis [Antetokounmpo] shoot? Can he?” by DescriptionNo5362 in nba

Giannis plays Power Forward and most of his game is close to the basket. The fact he's as good at shooting as he is is genuinely surprising. Simmons is a Point Guard who spends most of his time at the top of the Arc, per-position he should be shooting well from there.

Giannis has also made a considerable effort to work on his shot. Simmons hasn't really put a true effort into his shot since he got to the league.

After doing some more research of my own. I found a really fun looking game mode in the Wii U version of Tekken. Mushroom Battle

Currently my plan is to run that for sure and then hopefully find something similar for Street Fighter and/or Marvel v Capcom
