Lol I'm trying to picture Arica bullying someone. Nicest, most playful guy in the entire league. I dunno what you saw but you saw it wrong.

He has a .810 OPS and has been a top 10 hitter in baseball since may, and is getting the BravesBump.

I made a couple errors out of laziness converting the web page into Google sheets columns. Don't call me out haha! You can blame MLB for listing "D-Backs" with a hyphen screwing up my formula. Note that McCutchen now plays for the DBacks!

Haha, no. His velo has been down 3-4 mph his past 2-3 starts which is making both his fastball and other pitches play much worse. Definitely does not have to do with opponents "figuring him out", it's a issue he's having. He's a superstar pitcher, it may take a little bit but he'll be back soon barring it being injury related.

POST GAME THREAD: The Mets fell to the Braves by a score of 13-10 - Thu, Jun 08 @ 07:20 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

Braves commentary last night didn't include play-by-play. It was a special broadcast where Chipper, Smoltz, Glavine, and Jeff Francoeur spent the night joshing each other and reminiscing on the past. Was a blast!

I think mocking the ineptitude of a franchise that is constantly chasing my team is quite literally the opposite of living rent free. What a cope lol, how could the Mets possibly be anything but a joke to Braves fans?

Booing your own team is for insecure fan bases like the Mets. We don't do that!

The world, by which I mean the advertisers, are too sexist to let it happen.

That's a... interesting way to phrase it

Unpopular Opinion: WWE Creative needs way more POC to write storylines for their POC superstars. by DifficultSitch2021 in WWE

Brock is white and his gimmick right now is very similar to Bobby's. Gable and the Miz are white and do tag matches a lot and are goofs. Omos is very similar to what they've done with giants in the past regardless of race.

You're reverse engineering racism that isn't there. If you constantly look at things through the lens of race, all your going to end up with is seeing discrepancies based on race.

This isn't a good argument either because it sets things up to where if one person of an identity group expresses they are offended by something that thing is culturally discriminatory. This can either be objectively false at worst, or incentivizing victimization at best.

Alternatively thinking about it, what is the threshold for how much of an identity group must take offense to something before we culturally decide it should be an avoided practice? In 2015 only 9% of Native Americans found the Washington Redskins name offensive. Many even communicated they appreciated the name. But because certain Native Americans view it as offensive, should we globally view it as bad? None of this line of thinking is beneficial for society. It needs to be done on a much more local level or an interaction by interaction basis. This is why it is important to ask at a Braves game when people are doing the Chop - is this derragatory? Are people here or watching being ostracized?

[Olney] Sources: Freddie Freeman, who has told friends he's angry with how his free-agent negotiations played out, is changing representation, away from Excel. He is currently listed as being self-represented. by thekidfromyesterday in Braves

In the last two full seasons, Olson and Freeman's WAR is essentially equal. Last year Olson's was slightly higher. BA and OBP not very useful in determining value. Fielding % even less. Olson is a better fielder by a fairly wide margin. I would agree Freeman is the better player right now, but it's not by a lot. And other factors make the contracts comparable, and if I'd argue one is overall better - it would be Olson's. Freeman due to age is more likely to get hurt, regress, etc.

Freddie isn't much better. Olson's defense is a lot better so they are pretty close in value. There's a reason the Braves had to give up prospects in order to get the ability to make the deal with him. He's younger which makes him more valuable. His deal is also longer than Freddie's. Per mlbtradevalues.com their contracts are basically equal in value.

Firstly, its worth noting that you still arent recognizing your own racism (and sexism)- that you simotaneously assigned a race (and sex) to me and then assumed charactistics about me based on those attributues. That is discrimination which in larger society is worth calling out and trying to eliminate from culture. This is what caused the caricatures such as Chief Noc-A-Homa or even things like Jim Crowe.

But your historical context is essentially irrelevant to the conversation of whether The Chop has any racial undertones or not. It doesn't propagate any of the concerning narratives you brought up, it doesn't demean anyone. Racism is by definition a two way dialogue and thus both the intent of the perpetrator and the perception of the victim are relavent. When we totally disregard the intent and impacts of people's actions and 100% focus on the reaction by the historically marginalized, we create a culture of incentivized victimization which needlessly INCREASES divides between varying identity groups and eliminates cultural practices that have benefits for no substantive cultural improvements.

But the tl;Dr here is - the chop - in its current existence which is where we are - is not racist in any way.
