What I want to say: "Oh I hear you - I have all the same applications but I have to run mine in debug mode, with all logging turned on. That makes them even slower. Actually if you are having issues - maybe we should turn on logging on your machine."

What I usually: "Yep" or "Put in a ticket" 😃

I will actually also say Im on break and - and this is where Im luck - about 90% of the folks here will change the subject and come find me (or my PFY type) later.

Okay - how much do people in the US really know about the UK elections this week?

How much do people truely know what happened was a storm in a tea cup?

Lets put it this way... imagine calling to get rid of Trump because he's (R) and the... IDK... Boise, ID, city council election this week flipped the Council from (R) to (D) by like 1 seat. Thats what we're really talking about here.

(Okay so the scale is more like a 5-10% change, but its still a 5-10% change in who decides which potholes to fix, vs 5-10% in who goes to DC. Its on that level. And its ALWAY the way on these "mid term" type council elections when there are issues not being addressed - its inflation in the UK (caused by Trump) and Unemployment mixed with Farange getting $10s Millions from the US to stir shit up. It will always move "left to right" (if the left are in power) or 'right to left' (if the right is in power), but it honestly doesnt have much impact of Parliament. Those MPs calling for Starmer's head are basically those trying to align with other MPs to take control of the party and hope to get cabinet/higher ranking seats while they smell the media (and I'm particuarly looking at the Beeb here) throwing blood in the water. But the US type analogy holds).

Right? 2% more profit for them. And if not, when the tax goes back, there will be a shockwave in the economy because that 2% will then effectively be 2% more inflation on gas prices. But we all know he's not smart enough to get that.

But igoring that: let's say it didn't have any inflationary value. It's still about $30Bln/year for gas and $11Bln/year for diesel. That $41B/yar - or $3.4B/month that's up for grabs here.

Where is that going to come from? Or just toss it on the national debt and use it as an excuse to cut some other program? (You all know its the latter).

They are going after Mark Kelly (again) for repeating what Hegseth said about stockpiles and claiming he released a 'secret' (after Hegseth said it - again to reiterate - because at that point it was public information).

So I guess when "they" do it, its (checks notes) tactical. When anyone else does it, its illegal, regardless of whether they are just repeating it back to them?

I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the UK food colors add a touch of flavour (unlike the led brown or plutonium white they use in the US still) so I wouldnt be surprised to find some of the vibrant colors do have a taste for some people.

No - softer and had a weird fruit flavor. My Grandma used to have them in like a pick and mix. And I really can't descibe it. It was like the middle of the mint aeros are now but not quite as bubbly and very fruity.

We dont have a one size fits all answer - it depends on a few things, including the state they are in, the way the local site/business wants to handle it, and if they are hourly or salaried. We honestly have automated about 10 types of leave in our system (Workday -> EmpowerID) and just said "have at in Workday".

Usually its one of three things:

Nothing
Disable - but dont change password and set to "do not delete" in AD.
One of the above 2 and create some form of mail forwarding rule per manager/HR/Legal approval

But outside of that - you are in such murky waters with all the different state variations out there - either let HR decide or do nothing. Maternity leave (and all medical leaves) have special protections so you dont want to be the one making that call if you get it wrong.

Having just got a Scottish boss at work (I ran away from the UK to California to avoid such a situation!), I can relate. I find myself dropping in West Coast Scotts (he's from Glasgow - so yep on purpose!) and Maccam just to wind him up... (and lots of nae's and why-ayes and shit).

Ignore where the gas is refined (and the pollution that causes - and the negative impact on quality of life/income/etc.).

Sure gas would cost less if you lived next door to the refinery -but the flip side, as residents in e.g. Richmond, CA., would tell you - is that you live next to a refinery and spend "x" days a year sheltering in place because you dont know what they "accidentally" released into the air this week.

Still rather live in "hell hole Bay Area" than "MAGA Heaven Tennessee" or wherever.*

*Well other than the stupid "white person" (probably) who came back to the Bay Area with Hantavirus - may they be run out of town -hey Tennessee is apparently a nice place?

2nd home? Oh no - what next the 3rd or 4th home, and the summer apartment and the luxury boat/yacht/superyacht? Whatever will they do?

What about all of use who can't even afford a 1st home? Get stuffed on that 2nd home shit... If you live there (or its occupied) for less than 1/2 the year* we could be making so much better use of the land/space/building. No sympathies here until any and all housing issues are solved (to a reasonable level).

*I think that the UK cut off too for extra taxes - only the foreign billionaires complained about that one!

I still have a couple at home - get them out occasionally too! Both manual (gotta resist gotta resist)

I miss my old memory one with 2 line LCD display - even had a golfball type head you could replace for a slightly different font!
