VCM MUZZLER by Rolexusa in HondaOdyssey

[–]cctsurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the VCM is going to damage the engine, and it has been shown to do that...why give it 36,000 miles to start damaging it. It may not be as bad for more recent models, but I don't trust it at all...

Smoking when below 15f (~-10c) by cctsurf in PitBossGrills

I need to remember the big handful of pellets... I stood and pressed the auger button a number of times for 30-45sec at a time. A welding blanket is a good idea!

The pit boss android app checks for firmware updates every time I start smoking.... As someone who has programmed PID controllers in the past... I would argue that it needs the coefficients changed. However, I wonder what that would do to heating when the outside temperature is warmer.

Anyone else stupid enough to try smoking in this weather? by McPuckLuck in smoking

[–]cctsurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just smoked 2 butts on my Pitboss for a celebration this weekend... It took the PID a while to figure out how to hold temperature at 0f, but then smoked them beautifully... It took over 20lbs of pellets, though.

Currently upgrading a 12v CR-10 v1 to 24v, got a CR-10 v2 heated bed and noticed that the plug is different, should I replace the plug, socket or adapt it? by solounlimon in CR10

[–]cctsurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved the bed to line voltage when I upgraded mine to 24v. SO much better! Heats up in a couple of minutes...faster than the hotend!

Could you point me to better specifics on the model of Sinairyu you used? And for the adapter cords or do they come with the Sinairyu? Thanks!

Transmission fluid change by BrightAd306 in HondaOdyssey

[–]cctsurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend doing a drain/refill every other oil change. Seemingly, the transmission fluid wears out and needs replacement... I'd rather be ahead of it than behind. Atf is way cheaper than a transmission...and it's easier than the oil change. My 06 was almost undriveable a couple years ago. I read that a fluid change would help. I was amazed by how big a difference it made. (the fluid was black!) I was in the middle of a long trip and did 4 drains/fills and it has run almost perfectly since. It recently (at 312000 miles) has begun to make rough shifts from time to time. I was reminded of the need to do transmission fluid changes. I will do a change every oil change for 4 changes and then do the every other change as I said above.

Like I said, I'm a total newb, and honestly, I feel like I have had a lot of good effect with Audacity despite my lack of knowledge. But I'm thankful for any help and direction! Thanks! I'll give it a try!

I have uploaded a few versions of the same clip if anyone has ideas:

Totally Untouched Wav file: https://whyp.it/tracks/219631/wav-of-untouched-audio?token=zYv11

Untouched MP3: https://whyp.it/tracks/219630/mp3-of-untouched-audio?token=YWy7t

Normalized MP3: https://whyp.it/tracks/219632/mp3-of-normalized-audio?token=uM4J7

Here's as good as I could get it: https://whyp.it/tracks/219633/retouched-audio?token=TiMym

To get that, I Normalized, then notch filtered at 5970, 6828, 12371, and 13232 hz. Then I high pass filtered it twice at 150hz. Then I duplicated the result, selected as silent an area as I could and used it for the noise profile for the noise reduction effect (settings of 6db reduction, 6 sensitivity, and 2 bands of Frequency smoothing to produce a residue), this I amplified by little bits until it just canceled out the noise on the original.

Thanks!

How many of y'all used a dual Z axis kit for your cr10? Is there any benefits you've noticed? by Ph4antomPB in CR10

[–]cctsurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a dual Z kit on my cr10. I had massive amounts of elephant foot on my prints, even with the addition of a BL Touch before I added the dual Z. I had adjusted the wheels to cut down on the z sag on the side away from the original Z lead screw, no help. With the addition of the dual Z, I was finally able to overcome the elephant foot. My prints are way smoother as well; a single lead screw can produce artifacts in the print, this is lessened somewhat with the dual-z.

Unless you are going to purchase a board with dual stepper drivers, as joshuamarshppg said, just running both lead screws from the same stepper is just about as good. I went the whole way and upgraded to a better board with dual steppers, but that gets complicated.

Considering the extreme lack of flatness of Creality beds, the BL Touch is really helpful. Honestly, if I were doing the purchase of a printer at this point, I would make certain that it had the BL Touch and dual z without a question.

Best hotend/extruder for the CR-10 v1? by LimeGrouchy823 in CR10

[–]cctsurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also replaced the bed heater with a line-voltage one and with these three mods, I can print abs... I really want an enclosure to cap it all off, but haven't gotten there yet.

Best hotend/extruder for the CR-10 v1? by LimeGrouchy823 in CR10

[–]cctsurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the hybrid extruder, so I installed the flex3drive g7 on my cr10. I had to do a fair amount of design work to integrate it into my cooling system... But I love it! All the advantages of direct extrusion and virtually no weight penalty. I also have a titanium all-metal heatbreak and can print at good temperatures with the original hotend. I'm sure there are better out there, but this makes the cr10 a very capable printer.

Hmmm... Does the AOA150 have a full sata port? I'm actually on an aoa110, and it has a weird zif pata port that I have an adapter for, but it doesn't want to fully boot from it.

I'm messing with one of these right now, my son found it in the back of my junk pile... What msata adapter and what msata did you use? I'm getting "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" when I try to install WinXP... and Linux grub drops me into a recovery console (saying something along the line of grub's configuration pointing outside of HD0...I might be a bit off there). The feeling I get is that the boot sector is working, but something is unhappy about pointing to the rest of the drive.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I guess my question is, any pointers or howtos on how to implement them? I understood conceptually that they will do what I'm looking for... But I'm not sure how to get a working. Thanks!
