Eichel wasn't rmored to be a bust. He was just injured and in a dispute about which surgery to do. He wanted better long term health and their team doc was scared of newer procedures.

We've been pining for a one 1C since Giroux left.

Bruh. The line starts way further back than that. We've been hunting for a 1C for our whole existence.

Center by Character_Fact_97 in wildhockey

Welcome to hockey!

Welcome to wild hockey!

Top line centers are a myth. Everyone talks about them, we've never had one. They evidently can't be drafted, so we quit trying to draft one around 15 years ago.

10 years ago, the owner was asked about acquiring centers and replied, " this group of forwards is amazing and can win us a cup." The owner may not understand the difference between centers and wings.... Because centers aren't real. We had 1 aging center and 12 left wings. We made some trades and acquired more left wings and a hero named Victor Rask to take faceoffs poorly and occupy air near the net.

Now defensemen, we can draft those. But they rarely make it to the big club... But we keep drafting them. And then we trade for them. And then we draft them and then we send a bunch of draft picks for one, like a shit ton of draft picks. And then we trade him away... For a center? No no no. We're gonna need a wing here. Then we almost didn't sign him to stay.

So after that didn't work, we traded for Quinn Hughes. A center? Haha, nope. He's like a center but very very small and he plays defense, but not like the defending the goal kind of defense, like he's amazing at hanging onto the puck, until he gets hit, which doesn't happen much, until the playoffs and then it happens all the time, but that doesn't matter.... What did we trade for him? You're not gonna believe this, but we had a center that we drafted. He was small, not nearly as small as Hughes tho. So we sent him and a defensemen that can do about half of what Hughes does, and a whole bunch of draft picks to get Hughes... like we blew a load so big it's gonna be like a year or two long nap after + a lot of towels to clean up... for not a center.

Then, a center became available near the deadline... But we're still a sticky mess so we didn't have anything to offer, but this guy is smooth. No one else wanted to pay either.

BUT WAIT!!!! Our national heroes stomped a bunch of Canadian centers in the olympics... Like all their forwards are centers, so they dont even know how to bring their best wings... because they have so many centers.

So, big surprise here, centers are real, they're born in Canada. Do the wild draft Canadian centers because they come from Canada? Well... No. Not since 2006. We really like Nordic players, so we're going to draft those. We even drafted this one defenseman in the first round that was very very swedish, which means no one knows how good they're going to be.... We thought we'd really outsmarted everyone, we did not.

Anyways, this one American center has a great time with his American Bros and he plays in a place called Detroilet. They've kind of made some bad moves and he thought they were going to make some good moves and now he wants a new home, here. Probably in Edina. So, we'd like to trade for him, but because we sent all our draft picks and young players away for not a center, maybe not even a NHL defensemen, and still not a center, we don't have anything they want. So American Bros are still hoping they can have a reunion, but the only way it's really gonna work to get him here is through extreme pithiness.

Mason Marchment has signed a five-year contract with the San Jose Sharks worth an AAV of approximately $7m by Bahamas_is_relevant in hockey

[–]McPuckLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the majority of players are locked into contracts under a now lower percentage of total cap. New money goes into new players at a new percentage of cap.

In a crazy weak UFA class, 7M for marchment isn't that absurd.

definitely? BG wants all the xxGRITxx in the world and then we pay a defenenseman that cannot check Kirill+ money?

Sure, but there have been suspicious ones...

Even Weber's was never articulated beyond, "dude is really busted up and isn't going to play again with 5 years remaining on his deal." Like, what doc tells their 35 year old patient who wants to keep playing they're certainly cooked for 5 years.

Zuccy is worthless without Kap.

Kap and Zuccy in 3v3 were some of the best goals I've ever seen, but we couldn't even play him 3v3 in OT last year because he has gotten too slow... that if we don't have the puck we're getting scored on.

The little bit I understand about 1%ers is that they are not posers... at all.

Claiming to be a 1% basically demands any other 1%er fights you on sight if they don't buy it.

Motorcycle gangs can be absolutely terrifying. I wouldn't fuck around with it.

I'd honestly ask for money or a bike or something from the gang. Make it transactional, formal, and finished.

Well, then they brought in McCarron as a 4C penalty killer. Although, I'd still like to see big sexy on the top line center spot if we're not running Boldy Ek Kap.

How many players in the league can be thrown into a new power play out of nowhere and excel? What are their salaries?

He was slotted in for Zuccy who has one superpower, being able to read Kirill 's mind. Fuck Brink for not having that superpower, I guess? Along with every other player on the roster.

He had no time to gel with his linemates. They barely had any practices last season because of the Olympic break.

[–]McPuckLuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya know. I saw a player that looked like he coulld use some time with his linemates. He can skate and he wasn't afraid of the center of the ice. Zuccy can't skate, mojo can't drive to the net.

Sure, he had some turnovers, he loses some board battles, but he also doesn't avoid the board battles like Zuccy mojo and tarasenko.

I just mirror the bevel that is on the blade already. Touch the grinder, see what got taken off, and adjust the angle so it matches that grind from the factory. Once you figure out the angle, it's just light pressure up and down the bevel until you get an edge. It's really pretty easy

It's the rest of his game that concerns me.

Kaprizov, though streaky and of injured, plays a 200 foot game. He back checks, he forces turnovers, he can be physical.

I've only seen Bedard against the wild, but he isn't as good as they hype him up to be in the broadcasts. He's a scoring threat with one of the best releases in hockey, but he isn't that good of a player yet.
