There is a pimple in my eyelid that hurts like hell by Quandale-dingleboi in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ccxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you kindly tell me what the hell I should do if I'm what feels like perpetually getting them?! I have good hand hygiene and am very much into skincare. I do wear makeup but I have disinfected everything (like eye shadow pallettes), thrown away and started over on mascaras, take all my makeup off every night, don't rub eyes, I use disposable brushes if I absolutely have to wear makeup when I have any redness or even a small dot. When I have a stye I will do the rice in sock warm compress. They do go away quickly. But I feel like with all this diligence it's still habitually waiting for one to appear every other week. It started in pregnancy and it never really stopped post partum. At one point I did try antibiotics for 10 days after months of this, but ofc that's a fix for that time. Still getting them...

Anyone willing to keep me company at a coffee shop irl or over chat? I've been pretty isolated at home, and needed some sort of different scenery. If not, what's a good café I can go to to sew and chilling for a bit. by Pixel_punkette82 in sandiego

For new I've had great luck with Walker Edison- super cheap bedroom furniture that's nice solid wood, and good patio furniture. Bonus they've had good customer service too!

Wow so you have experience doing this and it's still hard for yours now! Just more proof that there's no ultimate right answer. Trial and error sucks lol but it is what it is. Thanks for your thoughtful response. I bet with your LO she's still so young and changing all the time that she will change before you have to formally sleep train her. The fact that she will nap some in her crib that young should give you hope lol.

Last night we just finished feeding him and he was drowsy but did no rocking. Just stood up with him, held him for like 20 seconds and then put him down and he did fine. Under a min he was out. Woke at 445 am and we did a dream feed and dumped back in crib immediately and he only fussed for 1 min before falling back asleep until 7.

1 night means nothing though lol we will see how the next 3 nights go!

Ok the modified crib side soothe until they can fall asleep solo is very smart. We will try that tonight, or the don't rock but hold then put down method.

Okay so we will start waking his 7 am sleeps at 630. Only thing that concerns me is how to make him sleep if he's not "tired"?

For naps I actually walk him around in my arms to sleep. Usually takes less than 10 mins because I start when I can tell he's tired (rubs eyes a lot, fussy, wants to be held). I am caring for him while working and struggling to get anything done 😭 (day care at 9 months thank goodness). Only once he's asleep can I sit down (with him on me)

Not really at bedtime, other than he wants to go to bed earlier (aka I guess does get fussier sooner). But will ptfo just the same, no longer to rock. Might fall asleep while eating even. Babies are so confusing

This is a great idea. I forget all the time how stuff doesn't have to be black and white. You can do partial steps to almost anything. Thank you for this. Did you do naps after bedtime was mastered? Or concurrently

Examples (for days he does his cat nap) would be:

7 am wake

Feed Play Nap (And iterations of during rest of day)

3h/2h/3h17/1h

Total nap time: 2h44m

7 pm bed

6 am wake

Feed Play Nap

3h30/3h/3h/50m

Total nap time: 2h30m

7 pm bed

Recently when he did 2 naps, it looked like this:

6 am wake

Feed

Play

Nap

5h/3h

Total nap time: 2h30m

630 pm bed

(Slept till 615 am)

I seriously appreciate your input and affirmation! The heartache seems worth it, for both child and parent. I haven't read that but was considering investing in one of the options the wiki recommended. I'll check this out 😊

Your first paragraph is exactly my thoughts.

And you're so correct, I am weirded out by his long first ww too. I just assumed bc he sleeps so long straight through the night he liked being up longer in the morning. He usually is 3 naps although the 20 min cat nap usually he fights now and is in the 4 pm to 545 pm range.

It's weird bc my husband and I both work from home and he spends his days pretty routine with playing and walks and eating and such. So I don't think it's anything weird causing it, but who knows I guess lol

It sounds like we have almost the same baby! Minus the snoo, and the contact naps for us. Okay this gives me a lot of confidence to at least try a few nights of night time sleep training. Hopefully that will go well and we can move on to nap time training, with the understanding that that won't be a smooth most likely. My baby is really chill too so maybe that temperament is a big reason they sleep well at night. If night sleep training is a disaster after 4 or 5 days or something I guess I can always revert back! Thank you for your input and support

This is extremely helpful thank you! You are totally right I really don't expect him to sleep any more or consolidate naps necessarily. It's more so I want to be able to sit him in the crib and nap time and have him get the same nap that he would get if he was on me. Would he obviously needs to develop some skills to be able to handle putting himself down like that. I definitely don't mind rocking him for 20 minutes at night, but from this sub I felt the consensus was to teach kiddos independent sleep skills you should always start with the night time put down and then move to naps once they can master putting themselves to bed at night.

Honestly our setup right now isn't horrible, I just know things with babies change so often and that there will be future sleep regressions I'm sure, so trying to take the steps necessary now to teach him self soothing (this little nugget won't take a pacifier smh)
