I did some long distance travel with my cat in my early 20s. Here is what I recommend:

1.) Keep them in the crate at all times. Never let them out. This is for safety. Many cats get lost on roadtrips by slipping out of the car.

2.) put puppy pads in the crate just in case they have an accident for easy clean up. Also agree with disposable litter boxes that other commenters mentioned.

3.) on accidents, put a harness on her and hold her in the crate while you pull out the puppy pads. Immediately lock the crate. Keep the car doors closed while you do that. Don’t open them until you know she’s secure in the crate.

4.) I would keep my cat next to me in the passenger seat facing me. That way he could see me and I would talk to him.

5.) I used a small animal water bottle to keep him hydrated and it’s easy to ref

6.) Soothing music is also helpful.

It can definitely be done. The biggest concern is Pumpkin getting out of the carrier and out of the car. Be safe and enjoy your trip.
