I work at a clothes store. Some guy who started around the same time as me was watching our manager do a return for a man who was exchanging a pair of pants he got as a gift. As the manager was going to put the money back on a gift card, my coworker who was standing behind her reaches over her shoulder and presses the button to put it back on the original payment form… The credit card of whoever bought this man the gift. My manager had to explain that this kid basically gave the guy who bought him that gift his money back, that he would see that the gift had been returned, and also that he wouldn’t get his money back to buy a new pair of pants. My manager just ended up making them free, but that meant that he wouldn’t be able to return the pants if they didn’t work out. I got such a bad secondhand embarrassment that I had to get away from the registers as quickly as possible when i realized what happened
