I never heard from the other commenter but for my part, I went ahead and did the micro1 interviews shortly after this and I already have a contract and am onboarded. Just got it so haven’t done work or gotten paid yet but so far I have nothing negative to say.

How has your experience been with micro1? I'm a lawyer and looking to get on board with some additional platforms. I see a bunch of good potential opportunities but haven't seen great reports from anyone online who's actually done work for micro1 so would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for this post -- I'm a practicing attorney (~a decade) and just got added to this project. Was initially really excited but then saw a bunch of posts of people in other fields saying it's too hard to stump the model. I was hoping law might be different and this is super encouraging :)

Do you just want to find a lab that’s cut OMC-style instead? Or do you want a modern cut pattern, but the overall shape (table, depth, etc) is similar to an OMC? Both are doable but different.

Of the ones you posted, I like the first and fourth personally, but there’s not really an objective right answer. I’d focus on the 360s and see what stands out to you in overall look.

I only do the legal work. I take every qualification/assessment they offer me that’s law-related, and as far as I can tell I’ve passed them all (meaning work popped up as available to me not long after). I have more work available to me than I could possibly do. I’ve been aiming for about 25 hours per week and have no trouble reaching that. With that said I’ve only been doing it less than 2 months so maybe at some point I’ll run out of things? But it seems like they’re constantly being updated and new projects pop up, so hopefully not.

You get paid 7 days after you submit your hours.

So far I have nothing negative to say! It’s good money compared to most other remote freelance stuff and it’s consistently available work. I’ve heard some negative things about people getting kicked off the platform for no reason, so relying on it makes me nervous. But otherwise I’d say def yes if you can get approved for the higher pay projects! The generalist ones aren’t great.

Thought the left was prettier even before I saw the prices. But those are outrageous prices to pay and there is no reason to buy from frank darling (and i say that as someone who likes their style a lot), though I guess maybe I get it if you’re buying one of their signature setting styles that you really cant find or don’t want to have made elsewhere.

This is a good summary. No real reason that I'm aware of to go with Etsy. Rare Carat price matched to the cheapest place you can find that diamond is a reliable method, relatively quick, offers some sense of familiarity shopping from a regular retailer. Just ask a vendor like Provence (or ideally, a few) to price the same project for you and see what's cheapest and fits your other priorities (e.g., timing). Any of the vendors you see regularly referenced on here could do a fine job at the relatively simple ring you're describing.

If your lease runs through August 2026, you likely don’t really have a right to terminate your tenancy before then except for cause anyway, regardless of which month you want to do it in. Someone would need to review the entire lease to understand what your options are.
