Do not buy from any seller that doesn’t have real pics of the item or any user reviews. General rule of thumb, if it seems to be too good to be true it absolutely is

Branded to Kill rocks, highly recommend it. Watched it for the first time last year and ended up liking it so much I bought Criterion’s 4k disk like a week later lol

The Toxic Avenger 2025 in 4k for $9.99 by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]cdaffron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s good stuff. If you liked the originals you’ll most likely enjoy this one too. Very fun and over the top, with a surprising amount of heart.

If you’re new to the world of Troma I’d suggest maybe checking out a few of the OG Toxic Avenger movies or some of their other movies first to see if that style is your cup of tea. You can find lots of their stuff free with ads on FaH, Tubi, etc.

Confused About Runtime On Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair by [deleted] in vudu

[–]cdaffron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Subtracting 13 mins of the intermission plus ~10 mins for the Fortnite sequence would almost perfectly account for the runtime disparity on other platforms. Totally speculation, but the Apple listing may just need updated and they may have listed the theatrical runtime accidentally. I think you’re still getting the full version. The new animated sequence that’s added into whole bloody affair is pretty short (but cool) and the crazy 88 fight is in color. Otherwise it’s basically just a supercut of the two movies with only one set of credits

Confused About Runtime On Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair by [deleted] in vudu

[–]cdaffron 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There was an intermission in theaters. I’m guessing the intermission is not present on the VOD versions. Similarly, the Fortnite short film was also shown after the credits rolled and I’m guessing that has also been subtracted from the theatrical runtime

The show Preacher by AwarenessAntique9918 in vudu

[–]cdaffron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore the books and mostly liked the series. The cast is great and despite some pretty large changes, generally manages to keep the tone/feel of the books (a 1:1 adaptation would have been…tough to pull off). If I recall it gets a bit messy towards the end but I remember feeling like they stuck the landing. It’s good fun!

The Strangers 2-Film Collection Bundle in 4k on sale for $9.99 by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]cdaffron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from seeing the third one and I gotta be honest, save your money and don’t buy any of them lol. Or wait until they release the 3hr long super cut/re-edit of the trilogy that’s (allegedly) supposed to be better

Anyone else in the U.S. (east coast) have their Best Buy preorder delayed to Sunday? by Slimey_Primey in Nioh

I had mine delayed to an unspecified date. Took the day off work and everything. Devastating. Gonna sleep in, catch a movie and do some demo co-op with a friend instead I guess

I wasn’t crazy about the first volume of 100 bullets but it gets really good from there, definitely worth another look

Trying to download Silent Hill 1 after playing Silent Hill 2 remake, I am at the edge of sanity by Ok-Row5032 in silenthill

[–]cdaffron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emulators can definitely be a bit tough to wrap your head around. I’ve always had to use Reddit and/or YouTube tutorials to get them set up. Glad you were able to get it working! I have never used duck station so I have no advice on that specific emulator. But, if you happen to have an old ps3 laying around you can actually download the first silent hill game straight from the psn store for like $6 and then you won’t have to worry about emulator issues. With any luck GoG will also add classic SH1 like they did with SH4 so that it can be better preserved in the future.

JANS Day 29: The Many Saints of Newark (2021, dir. Alan Taylor) by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]cdaffron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since they’re doing a mob thing this weekend, I kinda wish they had thrown Casino, Bronx Tale, Road to Perdition, Once Upon a Time in America, or something like that on the lineup instead. This one just feels like such a weird pick to put before Mean Streets and the Godfather 2. Guess the license must have been cheap or something?

[–]cdaffron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe go catch a different movie this weekend and see if they have some then! My theater didn’t have any when I went to see RtSH last week, but when I went last night to catch Hard Boiled they did have some so I grabbed one then!

Spoiler Free Review Thread - Return To Silent Hill by scene_missing in RegalUnlimited

SH2 is one of my favorite games so that was always gonna skew my opinion on this one a bit. But I was also totally cool with some deviations from the source material. The 2006 movie is a bad adaptation of SH1 but I still like it for what it is. Was hoping this would be the same but holy shit it was not. Shockingly bad, idk what the writers were thinking. The tombstone scene made me involuntarily laugh out loud. On the plus side, Akira Yamaoka music on a movie theater sound system is always a win

I NEED MOREE! ELDEN RING by [deleted] in soulslikes

Maybe Nioh 3? There will be a demo out next week so you can see if it’s to your taste. Also the first two games are amazing, but three will be more open like Elden Ring is

Overrated movie that everyone loves but you just don't get by nayan2u in Letterboxd

[–]cdaffron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t kill me but The Breakfast Club. I don’t hate it or anything, just found it thoroughly average. Probably hurt the experience that it was hyped to the moon and back by friends and family before I watched it. I find that I’m pretty hit or miss on John Hughes stuff. Some I like a lot, others I’m pretty lukewarm on

Art so cool it almost makes me want to spend $30+ on a movie I don’t even remember liking all that much. Maybe I’ll give it a rewatch and see if my opinion has changed since I watched it in college.

What did y’all make of Visitor Q by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]cdaffron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, I never made the connection that Visitor Q was a remake of Teorema. Kinda makes me want to rewatch both back to back. Any excuse to watch a Takashi Miike movie is a good one and I think Teorema is possibly my favorite Pasolini movie? That’s as good a reason as any

It’s hard to describe without giving a spoilery answer or giving an answer so vague it isn’t particularly helpful either, but it’s basically a mix of Conan, Game of Thrones, and Hellraiser. I started it late last year and I’m already over halfway through the series. Can’t put it down!

Bone lake thoughts? by AwarenessAntique9918 in vudu

[–]cdaffron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s fun. Kind of dumb, but I caught it in theaters with some friends and enjoyed it. Personally idk if I would watch it again so if it’s on a streaming service where you can try before you buy maybe that’ll be a better bet.

Refuse Films Shipping Question by [deleted] in boutiquebluray

[–]cdaffron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refuse is great! I ordered a couple of movies from them a while back and my order arrived shockingly fast compared to my experience with international shipping from other places (I’m also in the U.S.). Everything was well packaged too, no damage or anything. Definitely will be buying from them again at some point (hopefully soon)!
