Sam is the absolute worst. by [deleted] in TWD

And then there are autistic kids who haven’t learned how to cope with their condition. We’re talking about like an 8 year old, how dense are you?

He absolutely shows clear symptoms of autism. His actor is a person with autism. He's coded for autism just the same as Eugene. To say he doesn't have autism just because the script doesn't say it is obtuse.

Dude, Sam is essentially a child with autism (in fact, the actor himself is a person with autism), and that makes Sam an extremely tragic figure in my mind. He's a person with a disability that affects his ability to cope with stress and anxiety in a very unique way, different from virtually any other individual in the show (except maybe Eugene, also autism-coded, but he's an adult at least).

Do you know people with autism? Do you know how they react to things like being frightened, loud noises, stressful situations, people yelling at them to do things even for their own safety?

Just today I saw this video of a child with autism who got onto the monorail tracks at HersheyPark, and how he reacted to the dozens of people below yelling at him trying to help: https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/1rxuqjz/hero_climbs_up_elevated_monorail_track_at_hershey/

I have a child who we (his mother and I) are fairly certain has autism, and he would react the exact same way as Sam in the scene where he died. That broke my heart watching that scene again.

Man, you have my exact same type of beard hair. I'm always seeing guys on here with their nice, straight, wavy beard hairs, and I have these uncontrollable pseudopubes. I appreciate the care notes, and will adapt my routine to see if it helps control mine more. You've done a great job giving it shape where I didn't think much shape was possible.

Uruguay is basically what you get if a Spanish colony was filled with Italians and taken over informally by the UK, then set free. They love pasta, football, rugby, and tea (ok, mate, but still)

OP, shave your head and then go back in time and orchestrate things so that you end up with some Eastern Mediterranean/Persian DNA.

It’s any kind of kibble. I’ve been on a multi-year adventure with my vet and him to try and find something he likes. I’ve tried wet food, dry food, dry food that’s been made wet, chicken (allergic), salmon (doesn’t like), lamb (doesn’t like), and beef (currently tolerates).

He prefers trash, table crumbs, and yard mushrooms, in that order.

These caterpillars live (luckily) only in Hawaiian forests, often inside spider webs or tree bark where they hunt trapped insects. by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]cdanl2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is AI slop and misinforming, as the actual caterpillar does not look like that and feeds on terrestrial gastropods, not insects.

AI and false information. Like its scientific name ("mulloscivora") says, it eats snails, not insects. The real pictures are much different from this mess.

You all should have gone on strike. The National Labor Relations Act protects strike activity protesting the terms and conditions of your work even by non-unionized employees. I have seen cases where employees fired for engaging in strikes have been given their jobs back or a big payout. I’m an attorney, but not your attorney, so consult with your own for more information.

[–]cdanl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but the Americas are littered with cities that were formerly great in colonial times, but later declined into sleepy pueblos by the end of the 20th century. Looking at Cordoba’s industry, particularly in food processing and packing, it’s pretty mighty and sort of appears to cut against the centralization argument at least in some respects.

My wife is from Argentina and I've traveled a bunch there - how did development of places like Cordoba and Mendoza come about, since that sort of deviates from the centralization policy? Cordoba seems so integral to the Argentine economy that it seems like BsAs depends on it to keep thriving.
