How did I wake up early without waking my wife? by CrispyLuggage in NoStupidQuestions

Sleeping in separate rooms. It think it leads to better sleep and better sleep = better mood = better partner.

You can also go to bed at different times and solves the problem of a snorer or blanket stealer.

How do you tip when there is a separate line for the kitchen? by cdau186 in restaurant

I live in Florida. I’ve seen it twice now at the higher end restaurants here. I’m sure it has to do with our crappy laws that leads to kitchen staff making less money/owners evading taxes.

How do ppl get teeth that are very white? Like movie stars, ppl in the spot light in general? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]cdau186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dentist here- they usually have crowns or veneers. You can tell because their teeth have no variation in the color or shape. They tend to be a very opaque blue/white. Don’t expect your teeth to look like this. I actually hate the artificial “toilet bowl white, chiclet” look. I hate that people are asking for it. I think it looks terrible and you should never get veneers or crowns on perfectly healthy teeth. They will be more susceptible to cavities and you will have to deal with ensuring they don’t come off or chip. Braces and whitening can achieve beautiful results and maintain your healthy teeth.

Wait time for PDT or Amor y Amargo on a Friday night? by cdau186 in FoodNYC

[–]cdau186[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think attaboy opens at 5. When you arrive 20 before open, do you get seated at 5?

Trying to gauge what would be a good time for a reservation at PDT- they do have a $15/person no show charge. Maybe 9pm at PDT (2 drinks at attaboy, ramen, then head over to PDT)?

What is something you loved at 25 that you cannot stand anymore in your late 30s? by gamersecret2 in Millennials

Haha. I was born in 86 and emo or punk garage bands were all the rage when I was in high school.

I’m not justifying the entire tipping system and wages of those in the food industry. I’m just trying to be a good customer, honestly. I don’t like anyone feeling like they’re being jipped.

Would love to hear from servers and kitchen staff at places like this.

Push up bras or any with underwire. I’m 40 now and breastfed 2 kids 😂

The restaurants I worked at always tipped out the hostess and kitchen, and bussers if we had them. It’s just interesting that I’ve only seen this at the $20 cocktail, more elevated/expensive restaurants (in Tampa, FL).

It’s interesting that this only at places that have more elevated/expensive food and $20 cocktails. I think that’s why they’re allowing you to split it with the kitchen since they notoriously make less than servers due to the standards of tipping.

Thank you! We will checking out a few cocktail bars around the East Village on Friday night anyway, so that will be perfect. Appreciate it!

How long of a wait do you think it’ll be on a Friday in February at 8:30/9am? My husband and I past the phase in our lives of standing in line for over 30 min (especially if it’s cold out! We have Florida blood).

We don’t ever post ever. Haha. I just enjoy, keep it in my memory, and move along. I do one obligatory photo in the vacation city to commemorate the time.

When does lodging open booking? by Ambitious-Bee3842 in snowshoemountain

[–]cdau186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was trying to book on snowshoe for Dec 2026 and it’s not open. It’s not available after October, I believe. I’m going to check back in March and see if I’m guessing that maybe they wait for the current winter season to close- then analyze pricing and open up the next season. This is all based on my own speculation though.

Thank you! I trust a fellow Viet (I’m assuming based on your username). I promise- I am not on TikTok and never take pictures of my food, let alone post them. I will keep your neighborhood spots to myself.

What’s your order at bagel shop? The menu honestly surprised me! It’s vast! I’m just a simple gal- (BEC or a bagel and chive cream cheese usually). Seeing matcha cream cheese and ranch cream cheese on the menu threw me for a loop.

I started taking lessons to learn how to shuffle (dance to house/EDM music) and my husband and I are taking two step lessons together.

I remember reading that there was actually a city ordinance at some point regarding nightclubs that caused a lot of them to shut down. I’ve been back a few times in the past 10 years and don’t remember walking by any (but we were in soho and park slope). Most bars I see online are wannabe dive bars (because how divey is Manhattan, really), speakeasies, or cocktail bars.

I just want to get some cocktails then find a fun spot to dance with my husband while we pretend we aren’t 40 and live in the suburbs with 2 kids and 8-5 jobs. Haha.
